Cheer on the Loggers at today’s Superfans game!
Today’s Superfans matchup features women’s soccer taking on Kaskaskia at 4 p.m. All enrolled students at the game tomorrow can enter a raffle for a $100 LLCC Bookstore gift certificate! Plus there will be free snacks for faculty and staff. Athletics will have Logger gear to choose from while supplies last. Be sure to come out with your friends, family and colleagues to help cheer the Loggers to victory! As always, admission to LLCC athletic events for LLCC students, staff and faculty is free.

Health Screening and Wellness Fair
Thank you to everyone who attended or assisted in anyway with yesterday’s LLCC Employee Health and Wellness Fair, “Passport to Self-Care.” A special thanks to the LLCC Foundation for their creativity and expertise. LLCC to celebrate 18th annual Multicultural Fest Oct. 12
LLCC invites the public to its 18th annual Multicultural Fest Wednesday, Oct. 12. The event takes place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. outside A. Lincoln Commons on the Springfield campus, 5250 Shepherd Rd. LLCC Outreach Centers in Jacksonville, Litchfield and Taylorville will also host celebrations in October. The events are free and open to the public.
The annual Multicultural Fest showcases various cultures with ethnic food, entertainment and cultural exhibits.
Local food trucks are offering free samples of ethnic food at the event. Restaurants serving from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. include B&W Good Eats and Sweets, Leo’s Pizza and AZ-T-CA Mexican Grill.
Entertainment will be provided by DJ Yinka at 10 a.m., 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.; Brian Stark, LLCC private applied music instructor, and Jess Stark at 10:30 a.m.; Telly da Great and Torch_Nation at 11:30 a.m.; LLCC voice majors Miriam Carter and Hunter Woods, accompanied by Laurie Lewis-Fritz, assistant professor of music, and piano majors Clifton Jones and Jonah Pollock at noon; and Calia Cole at 1:30 p.m.
Community partners that will have exhibits include Memorial Health, NAACP, Springfield Lincoln Library, Ten Thousand Villages of Champaign, 2-D Design Class, First Church of the Brethren, Eternal Life Enterprises, LLC and the Indiana Association of Spiritualists.
In addition to the festivities taking place on the Springfield campus, LLCC Outreach Centers will also host multicultural events.

Walk to End Alzheimer’s
LLCC-Team Loggers participated in the Walk to End Alzheimer’s on Saturday, Oct. 1. They raised awareness for the Alzheimer’s Association, “the leading voluntary health organization in Alzheimer’s care, support and research.” LLCC-Team Loggers had 16 members and raised $2,260 for the Alzheimer’s Association so they can continue their great work. Thank you to co-captains Laurie Clemons and Leslie Johnson, and team members Jeremy Alexander, Kim Alexander, Mackenzie Bryant, Shanda Byer, Mary Dellert, Julie Eason, Claire Heffron-McKinney, Bobbi Henry, Barry Lamb, Laurie Lewis-Fritz, Crystal Norris, Elliana Thompson, Kassie Thompson and Kirk Yenerall.

Updates for 2023 College for Kids
In summer 2023, the LLCC College for Kids program will be getting an update! Taught by experienced educators, and with staff support, many camps for younger students are STEAM-based (science, technology, engineering, arts and math) and utilize LLCC’s vast resources and teaching options. These camps cleverly disguise academic enrichment as fun. LEGO workshops, storytelling, engineering and film making are all possibilities for this summer.
High school students will choose from career exploration camps where they sample careers before committing to a course of study. Most of these sessions will be taught in lab classrooms, just like the regular college classes by LLCC instructors. Camps are the perfect way for teens to test-drive a career before they commit.
Camps start the week of June 12 and run through the end of July, with no camps during the week of July 4. Camps are one-week long, Monday-Thursday, either morning or afternoon.
Program ideas from around the state include manufacturing camp, scrubs academy, coding camp, criminal justice, GLoW (Girls Learning Welding), robo camp, scratch programming, auto technology, culinary, digital photography, GLAD, Java, Python, architecture, carpentry, college outdoors, summer strings, Procreate, citizen science, ag in the classroom, drones, entrepreneurship and digital music labs.

Order your Around the World Gourmet Dinner Kits
The LLCC Foundation in partnership with LLCC’s Hospitality Management and Culinary Arts program is offering a five-course gourmet dinner kit pickup on Friday, Oct. 7 (Institutional Improvement Day). The “Around the World” menu theme features cuisine from various countries and gives culinary students a first-hand opportunity to prepare and serve the meal, which can then be finished with a little preparation at home.
After Institutional Improvement Day activities have concluded, pick up your dinner kit in front of the Workforce Career Center from 4-6 p.m. Gourmet dinner kits with drink pairings are $150, and each kit serves two people.
