Get your ticket for the Farmer’s Share Lunch on Friday

The LLCC Agriculture Club is hosting its Seventh Annual Farmer’s Share Lunch on Friday, April 27, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Trutter Center. The club is selling tickets for the meal that will include a boneless pork chop sandwich, roasted corn, potato salad, fruit, cookies, and tea or lemonade for $1. The cost represents the portion of a meal’s cost that actually goes back to the farmers who grew the food. The rest of the cost is for processing, marketing, transportation, etc. Only 125 tickets are available, and they may be purchased from any LLCC Ag Club member or by contacting club advisor Bill Harmon at 786-2573 or bill.harmon@llcc.edu.

During the event, guests will also be able to test their agriculture knowledge with trivia questions from LLCC’s state champion College Bowl Team. The event is open to anyone in the campus community as an educational activity for the club.

VALIC representative on campus tomorrow

Are you saving enough? Terri Bailey, VALIC financial advisor, will be on campus Wednesday, April 25 from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the VP conference room to answer questions about the 403(b) and 457(b) deferred compensation plan options available to LLCC employees from VALIC. View the invitation to find out how you can register for a consultation time. Deferred compensation options are available to employees from VALIC and TIAA-CREF.

Change in deposit process

In an effort to reduce paper consumption to align with the college’s value of accountability, effective May 1, 2018, LLCC Student Accounts will no longer be printing receipts for funds deposited into our GL accounts. Please begin using the updated deposit slip that is now available on the LLCC Finance Department portal page (labeled Accounts Receivable Deposit Slip); please discard and delete any saved versions of deposit slips you’ve previously or currently use.

Even though you will no longer receive printed receipts, you will still be able to track monies that you deposit. There are two options available to you:

  • Option A: Review the GL account in Colleague a few business days after bringing the deposit to LLCC Student Accounts to ensure monies have been deposited. (If you choose this option, you will not need to take any action; as of May 1, you will simply stop receiving paper receipts of the deposit.)
  • Option B: Request that LLCC Student Accounts email receipts to you (via the updated deposit slip).

If you are not already doing so, we recommend that you keep copies of the deposit slips you bring to us. LLCC Student Accounts encourages you to save electronic copies of deposit slips you submit along with receipts emailed to you (should you choose that option) so paper consumption is not just transferred from our team to yours.

If you have any questions, please contact Robin Ackman at robin.ackman@llcc.edu or 786-2762. Thank you!

Congratulations to the The Lamp

Congratulations to the The Lamp for winning 13 Awards for Excellence in the Illinois Community College Newspapers competition. The awards were presented April 6 during the Illinois Community College Journalism Association conference held at LLCC.

The Lamp staff won first place for its website, first and third place awards for front page design, and third place for general excellence. “Winning first place for website was very satisfying. They upgraded the website and worked hard to make sure new content was available daily,” says Tim McKenzie, professor of journalism and humanities and The Lamp advisor. “These awards are just a sampling of the great work that a very active group of student journalists created. I am very proud of all their work.”
