New supplemental defined contribution plan

The State Universities Retirement System (SURS) is excited to announce a new supplemental defined contribution plan that will be available to Lincoln Land Community College employees beginning June 1, 2021. Employees may enroll beginning June 1, 2021. Your first contribution will be from the July 15, 2021 paycheck.

This new voluntary plan, called the SURS Deferred Compensation Plan (DCP), will provide members an avenue to save more and generate additional income in retirement. Most active SURS members employed by a state university, community college or other government entity will be able to participate.

If you are eligible to participate in this new plan you will receive an email and a postcard directly from SURS with more information and instructions on how to enroll very soon.

Voya Financial is the recordkeeper for SURS DCP. See the below link for plan and investment information.

PTK Food Pantries Donation Drive underway

LLCC’s chapter of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society is asking for your help! They are holding a Food Pantries Donation Drive. Donations will benefit two different organizations:

  • Monetary donations for the LLCC Food Pantry. You can donate online through the LLCC Foundation by clicking llccfoundation.org/donate (click the “Donate Now” button and choose “LLCC Food Pantry” from the drop-down menu.)
  • Item donations for the new First Presbyterian Church Micro-Pantry. This brand-new micro-pantry was built by LLCC Professor Emeritus of Sociology Don Ecklund, and was recently featured on the front page of the State-Journal Register. Donation boxes are located near the Information Desk in A. Lincoln Commons and the LLCC Student Success office on the first floor of Menard Hall. View a list of items needed.

The Food Pantries Donation Drive ends at noon on Thursday, June 3. This food drive is part of a statewide competition among Phi Theta Kappa chapters throughout Illinois. The three chapters collecting the most donations will receive a cash prize of up to $100 to donate to their chosen food pantry (if LLCC wins, the money will be split between the LLCC Food Pantry and the First Presbyterian Micro-Pantry.) Please consider making a donation; every dollar or item helps! If you have any questions, please contact Dr. Claire Gordon, PTK coordinator, at 217-768-4944 or claire.gordon@llcc.edu.

Concrete work at loading dock begins June 1

Starting on June 1, contractors will be working on replacing concrete at the Menard Hall loading dock. This will limit access along this drive to the back of Menard and not allow any convenient turn around at the end of the drive. We anticipate this work to be ongoing throughout June.

Please use caution and be aware of all construction traffic as you drive and walk in these areas. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Tim Ervin at 217-786-9605 or at tim.ervin@llcc.edu.
