PTK begins Food Pantries Donation Drive today

LLCC’s chapter of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society is asking for your help! We are holding a Food Pantries Donation Drive. We are asking for your donations to benefit two different organizations:

  • Monetary donations for the LLCC Food Pantry. You can donate online through the LLCC Foundation by clicking llccfoundation.org/donate (click the “Donate Now” button and choose “LLCC Food Pantry” from the drop-down menu.)
  • Item donations for the new First Presbyterian Church Micro-Pantry. This brand-new micro-pantry was built by LLCC Professor Emeritus of Sociology Don Ecklund, and was recently featured on the front page of the State-Journal Register. Donation boxes will be located near the Information Desk in A. Lincoln Commons and the LLCC Student Success office on the first floor of Menard Hall. Items needed include:
    • Peanut butter, jelly, bread
    • Canned tuna and meats
    • Canned soups and stews
    • Boxed pasta and pasta sauces
    • Mac-n-cheese with liquid cheese
    • Cereal
    • Rice
    • Trail mix, peanuts and any other nuts
    • Individual sized chips and crackers
    • Apples, oranges, bananas, grape tomatoes
    • Granola, cereal bars
    • Canned fruits and vegetables, fruit cups
    • Ramon, noodles, pasta
    • Instant mashed potatoes
    • Baked beans, canned chili
    • Prepackaged oatmeal
    • Small servings of raw potatoes
    • P3 protein packs
    • Toilet paper, paper towels
    • Cleaning supplies (sprays or Pine-Sol)
    • Laundry soap, dish soap
    • Shampoo, conditioner, bar soap
    • Bleach
    • Tampons/pads
    • Razors, toothpaste, toothbrushes

The Food Pantries Donation Drive begins today and ends at noon on Thursday, June 3. Also, we are participating in a statewide competition amongst Phi Theta Kappa chapters throughout Illinois. The three chapters collecting the most donations will receive a cash prize of up to $100 to donate to their chosen food pantry (if we win, we will split the money between the LLCC Food Pantry and the First Presbyterian Micro-Pantry.)
