Below are two new graphics you can use in your email signature.

The first  one promotes fall 12- and 8-week courses. In addition to full semester (16-week) classes, LLCC also offers 12- and 8-week class options, which start later and finish faster! When inserting the graphic into your signature, be sure to hyperlink it to https://www.llcc.edu/12-and-8-week-classes.

The second one promotes Campus Visit Day being held on Oct. 11. The event provides information on how to enroll and pay for college. CircleIn webinar Sept. 7

LLCC is continuing its partnership with CircleIn throughout this academic year. To help ensure familiarity with CircleIn and the platform, we’re hosting a webinar on Sept. 7 from 3-3:45 p.m. Please plan to attend to learn more about CircleIn and their efforts to increase student retention and success.

CircleIn will share details on how their app helps students to study remotely, to collaborate with their classmates, to feel connected when studying together and to stay productive, even while at a distance on CircleIn.

AIeL and Woody Roper, senior trainer, Instructure Learning Services, will be providing a live virtual training session with a Canvas learning specialist. We do ask that you provide your questions in advance, if possible. Submit your questions in advance by adding them to this online document. Registration is not required.

Fall semester Transfer Tuesdays

The LLCC Office of Student Success will be hosting virtual sessions, “Transfer Tuesdays,” for current students looking to transfer after graduation to a four-year college or university. They can meet with representatives from four-year institutions and gather information to help them choose a school. Transfer Tuesdays will be hosted by an LLCC staff member every Tuesday afternoon from Sept. 7-Dec. 7, 1-2:30 p.m. on Zoom.

At each session, four-year institutions will be represented. There will be general announcements at the start of each session and virtual break-out rooms to meet with college representatives, who will be able to show videos/pictures, share documents and talk with students. Participating students will be able to go to as many of the college sessions that they choose.

Please encourage your students to attend these Transfer Tuesdays sessions. For more information, please direct students to contact their student success coach.

Below is the Transfer Tuesday schedule for September:

  • Sept. 7 – Methodist College, Loyola University – Chicago
  • Sept. 14 – Quincy University, Southern Illinois University – Carbondale, University of Illinois – Springfield, Lakeview College of Nursing

Save the date! Bistro To Go to open Sept. 14

Bistro To Go in the Workforce Careers Center
Bistro Verde, LLCC’s student-run café, will be open during the fall 2021 semester as Bistro To Go. It will be open on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. from Sept. 14-Nov. 18 (except for Nov. 2). You are invited to enjoy takeout soups, salads, sandwiches, baked goods, coffees and drinks prepared by LLCC culinary arts, baking and pastry, and hospitality students.

Orders can be placed in-person at Bistro Verde. Online ordering will also be available.

Welcome Taylor Vazquez

Taylor VazquezTaylor Vazquez has joined LLCC as a library specialist. She most recently worked as the circulation supervisor at University of Illinois Springfield Brookens Library where she also worked with reference and instruction. Word and Excel training

Looking to brush up your Word or Excel skills? LLCC-Medical District is offering Microsoft Office classes on Word and Excel this fall. All classes will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

  • Sept. 8, 2021 – Excel 2016 Level 1
  • Sept. 9, 2021 – Word 2016 Level 1
  • Sept. 29, 2021 – Excel 2016 Level 2
  • Sept. 30, 2021 – Word 2016 Level 2
  • Oct. 13, 2021 – Excel 2016 Level 3

Blood drive Sept. 20

This number represents the number of lives saved by blood donations from LLCC over the last few years. LLCC Student Life is happy to announce that we are partnering with ImpactLife once again for a blood drive. Our first blood drive of the year will be on Monday, Sept. 20 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Trutter Center.

One big change for this year is that appointments are required to donate blood. For those who donate, ImpactLife will give donors their choice of a Retro T-Shirt or gift card as a thank you. So, please help Student Life meet our donation goal of 20 units and continue growing the number of lives our college community has saved.

Welcome Brooke Greenwood and Kay Sill

Brooke Greenwood joined LLCC Monday as a nursing skills lab professional, health professions. She completed her education at Culver-Stockton College and has worked at St. John’s Intermediate Care, Concordia Village and Springfield Clinic. Kay Sill is also a new nursing skills lab professional, health professions at LLCC. She graduated from LLCC’s ADN program, and earned a bachelor’s degree from SIUE and a master’s degree in nursing from Spring Arbor University.
