Vote for your favorite decorated office door!

Homecoming week has begun! This year’s theme is “Mad About Plaid,” and three offices have decorated their doors for the Homecoming door decorating contest. We ask voters to consider the theme as the main criteria for selecting a winner, but to also consider overall appearance and use of red/blue as well.

Vote for your favorite! Voting will end Thursday, Feb. 7 at 5 p.m.

Nursing

The idea around nursing’s decorated door was born from the concept of how basketball players (and athletes in general) are very much like nurses with regards to drive, discipline and teamwork. Once we did a little research on this concept, we learned that many nursing schools had basketball teams well into the 1970s. We took the opportunity to incorporate this fun fact on our door by including a photo of a basketball team of student nurses from Grace Hospital in Detroit, Mich. in 1924.

African-American History Month

African-American History Month
LLCC is celebrating African-American History Month during February with various events. The theme for this year’s observance is “Still: We Rise as the Journey Continues.”

Activities begin today with the African-American History Month Kickoff featuring LLCC alum Kenneth Humble with the Kenny Humble Group from noon to 1:30 p.m. in A. Lincoln Commons. The event is co-sponsored by the LLCC African-American History Month Committee and LLCC Student Life.

Read about additional events throughout the month.

Employee training

Look for an email today with a link to important employee training on harassment and discrimination prevention. This training program is administered online and contains new content not previously included in prior courses offered by LLCC. More details can be found in the memorandum emailed to faculty and staff yesterday.

Volunteers for homecoming pep rally

Homecoming is next week! LLCC Student Life is requesting some additional volunteers for our event on Friday, Feb. 8 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in A. Lincoln Commons at our Logger Pep Rally.

This will be a carnival style event with several stations for students to engage with activities and earn chances to win prizes and homecoming swag! If you would like to participate in the homecoming fun (even for just a half hour) please sign up for a time slot. Student Life really appreciates your help in spreading our Logger school spirit!

We also encourage all employees to take part in our theme by wearing red and/or blue plaid with your casual Friday attire on Friday, Feb. 8. Make sure to tell our students about the upcoming homecoming basketball games on Saturday, Feb. 9 at 1 p.m. (women) and 3 p.m. (men). Student Life will be giving out more chances for prizes as well as announcing our homecoming king and queen! The first 200 students, faculty, staff and alumni will receive a free meal (hot dog, chips and drink) at the game.

If you have any questions, reach out to Jacob Deters at jacob.deters@llcc.edu.

Also, make sure to submit your photos for the door decorating contest by the end of the day TODAY!
