Cybersecurity Training for Employees

REMINDER: Cybersecurity training will be open for all LLCC employees from Oct. 1-31. If you have not done so yet, please go to https://llcc-il.safecolleges.com by Oct. 31 to complete your training.

Per board policy “10.4 – Employees’ Role in Security,” cybersecurity it is the responsibility of all users. It is strongly recommended that you complete the training.

Moving Ahead Through Active Learning Oct. 28

LLCC Academic Innovation & eLearning Fall 2020 Workshop Schedule
LLCC Academic Innovation & eLearning is hosting Moving Ahead Through Active Learning workshop on Wednesday, Oct. 28, 1-2 p.m., Live–Zoom. Join Stacey Olson, Amy Chernowsky and Barry Lamb as they demonstrate how one faculty member successfully transferred an active learning, face-to-face group project from the classroom to the online learning environment. Discussion during this workshop will include the process of transitioning this activity and the technology tools used to make this move (Sway, Google Drawings, Zoom and Padlet). Note: Current online faculty participating in the Online Proficiency Program can receive two points for successful completion of this workshop.

LLCC Academic Innovation & eLearning fall 2020 professional development workshops cover both pedagogy and instructional technology tools and will also include special opportunities to learn to use the new Canvas learning management system. NILRC to host presentation on Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Oct. 28

NILRC’s Professional Development Committee is hosting the free Zoom presentation “Equity, Diversity and Inclusion” with Dr. J.Q. Adams on Wednesday, Oct. 28, 9:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Dr. Adams, professor emeritus, educational and interdesciplinary studies, Western Illinois University, will explore questions about equity, diversity and inclusion means to individuals, libraries and institutions. Opening remarks begin at 9:45 a.m., Dr. Adams will present from 10 a.m. to noon and there will be some time afterward to continue the discussion with colleagues.

Submit Veterans Day recognition forms by Oct. 28

United States flagsWith Veterans Day coming up quickly on Nov. 11, LLCC Student Life needs your help with honoring our veterans! Current LLCC staff, faculty and students who are active or inactive military are invited to share their name, branch of military and military photo with Student Life so that their service can be recognized in the Veterans Day Ceremony. The ceremony will feature a picture slideshow to honor all military personnel. We look forward to honoring your services to our country! Please fill out this Veterans Day Recognition form by tomorrow, Oct. 28, to be recognized in this year’s ceremony. End-of-month depositsThe deadline to submit your deposits to LLCC  Finance is Thursday, Oct. 29 before noonPlease hand the deposit to someone in the finance department as monies should not be left unattended.

As a reminder, if you have taken in funds, it is necessary to submit them and corresponding deposit slips to LLCC Finance on a weekly basis.

Bistro To Go open today

Bistro Verde in the Workforce Careers Center
Bistro Verde, LLCC’s student-run café, is open during the fall 2020 semester as Bistro To Go for curbside pickup and takeout. It is open on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. through Nov. 19 (except for Nov. 3). You are invited to enjoy takeout items such as items as smoked chicken tortilla soup, roasted pear salad, grilled and chilled shrimp tacos, short rib melt, chicken pot pie and apple bread pudding. View the  menu. In addition, weekly chef specials will be available. Specials will be posted on the LLCC Culinary Arts and Hospitality Facebook page.

Lunch orders may be placed online at https://orders.cake.net/11205518 or by calling 217-786-2821, and must be paid for by credit or debit card when ordering.

Reserved parking spots for curbside pickup are available on the east side of the Workforce Careers Center on LLCC’s Springfield campus. When parked, call 217-786-2821, provide the name on the order and the vehicle make/model to have the order delivered.

For those joining us from campus that prefer to walk over, still order online and please pick up orders under the covered pavilion (signs will direct you to the pickup spot).

If you are a student attending classes at Workforce Careers Center or are an LLCC employee within the building, and you have already completed the daily health check as well as scanned your forehead temperature within WCC, you may wait for your order in the foyer. Please continue to follow the social distancing guideline of staying six feet apart.

Tech Tip: Stop Sync and Manage Files in OneDrive

Stop the Sync or Manage Folders in OneDrive for PC

Stop Sync

  1. Right click on the Blue cloud and select Settings.
  2. Stop sync on OneDrive and each Group Site individually.
  3. Confirm the Stop sync

Manage Folders to Sync

  1. Right click on the Blue cloud and select Settings.
  2. Select Choose folders for OneDrive of the Shared Library of the Group Site in SharePoint.
  3. Make all files available is the default. Remove the selection to turn off and select manually. Select individual files by placing a check mark in the box to turn the sync on.

Stop the Sync or Manage Folders in OneDrive for Mac

When you install the Microsoft OneDrive sync app for Mac, a copy of your OneDrive is downloaded to your Mac and put in the OneDrive folder. This folder is kept in sync with OneDrive. If you add, change, or delete a file or folder on the OneDrive website, the file or folder is added, changed, or deleted in your OneDrive folder and vice versa.

Manage your syncing sites   

You can manage your syncing sites in the sync app settings.

  1. Click the OneDrive icon in the menu bar.
  2. Click Preferences, and then click the Account tab.
  3. Choose Folders for that location.
  4. Choose the folders that you want to sync.
  5. To stop syncing a site, click Stop Sync next to the site. (Copies of the files remain on your computer. You can delete them if you want.)
