Ashley Krzesinski joined the college Aug. 21 as student records evaluator. She taught junior high math for 10 years at St. Agnes and most recently served as a program student advisor at University of Illinois Springfield. Ashley earned a bachelor’s degree in communication from Illinois State University and a master’s degree in education from Lewis University.

Also, ongoing from Aug. 21-Sept. 8, there is Back to School Bingo. Students can complete tasks/challenges to mark off spots on a bingo card and potentially win a prize! A new card will launch each week, and students can participate from anywhere. Cards are posted on the Lincoln Landing app.
With the extreme heat this week, Visit the Health and Wellness tab on the HR portal to learn about keeping you and your family cool.
Additionally, view the walking path maps for an indoor option to include physical activity into your day, or create a route throughout another building.
Today is the start of fall weekday classes and kicks off Welcome Week! Please join us in welcoming new and returning students to campus. Volunteers will be in A. Lincoln Commons greeting students, providing directions and helping answer questions.
Please join us in letting students know that we’re so glad they’re joining us this semester and to keep an eye out for “You know?” messages, which will help keep them in the loop on important dates, events and services available to them as LLCC students.

Thursday, Aug. 31, 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. — Scouting for Fun — Bring the outside in with fancy s’mores and a miniature boat building challenge.
Tuesday, Sept. 5, 12:30-1:30 p.m. in the Robert H. Stephens Room — Finding Your True Colors — Gather with other Loggers for a lunch conversation centered on personality and how learning about ourselves can be of help in many areas. Lunch provided to students! Space is limited.
Wednesday, Sept. 6, 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in A. Lincoln Commons — Spirit Day and Club Info Day — Visit with student clubs to learn about ways to get involved, and join in an exchange of LLCC branded items!
Thursday, Sept. 7, 4-5 p.m. (arrival) at Knight’s Action Park — Field Trip — Take some time to unwind after a busy few weeks! Student Life will be at the register ready to treat students (and their plus-ones) to mini golf or a couple of other activities.
Dr. Nancy Sweet, dean, Workforce Institute at LLCC, wrote the Aug. 20 essay in the State Journal-Register, “Employers: Meet your future employees!” She also discussed the upcoming Workforce Careers and Ag Expos on the WTAX Morning Newswatch Aug. 18.
We extend our condolences to Jennifer Ramm, professor of chemistry, on the passing of her father, Tim Little. Arrangements are pending.

The LLCC Writing Center has temporarily adjusted its schedule for student appointments. Beginning today, Aug. 21, the center is open for appointments from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Fridays.
