FY22 planning and budget process begins March 1

The FY22 planning and budgeting process starts Monday, March 1. We will continue to use the SharePoint form.

Users can access the form beginning Monday, March 1 for submission of items for the FY22 planning and budgeting year. Users are asked to submit their items between March 1-26. Access to the form will close at the end of the day Friday, March 26.

To aid budget managers in submitting Existing Budget Increase/Decrease (budget maintenance) requests, the  budget office will email budget baseline worksheets to users the week of March 1. Please wait to submit Existing Budget Increase/Decrease requests until you have received these worksheets. If you are a budget manager of an auxiliary unit and are making budget maintenance adjustments, you are required to attach the baseline worksheets to your forms prior to submission. See the direction pdf for more information.

Written directions and instructional videos have been created to assist users with form completion. These items and the link to the Planning & Budgeting SharePoint Form will be posted to the FY2022 Planning & Budgeting link on the Finance Department’s SharePoint page and available for users Monday, March 1.

LLCC participating in CCSSE during March

LLCC will be participating in the online Community College Survey of Student Engagement (CCSSE) administration during the month of March. CCSSE is a national survey focused on teaching, learning, and retention in community colleges. To learn more about CCSSE visit www.ccsse.org.

IRE plans to launch the survey on Tuesday, March 2, but as the survey’s home is UT-Austin, operations have been slowed by the ice storm and power outages. The college community will be kept abreast of any launch delays as well as student participation via periodically notices.

Submit an IDI Grant application

idi Innovation in Diversity and Inclusion Grant ProgramThe Innovation in Diversity and Inclusion (IDI) Grant application process is open for submission through March 15! The IDI Grant is an internal opportunity for any LLCC faculty, staff, student or department, and can be used to address a need and/or to promote and celebrate diversity. More information and helpful resources (standards of evaluation, project samples and more) are now available on the Innovation in Diversity & Inclusion Grant SharePoint page (be sure you’re logged in to Office 365 to access).

IDI Grant projects should fall into one of the following categories:

  • Training, Teaching and Learning
  • Recruitment and Retention
  • Environment and Processes
  • Other Innovation Strategies

Over the course of the coming weeks, a focus will be provided in LincIn on each of these categories. What types of activities could be undertaken for training, teaching and learning? We encourage you to talk and collaborate with your colleagues and students. A few ideas include: hosting a training event, purchasing materials for an inclusivity workshop, buying books from diverse authors, etc. Additionally, here are a couple of samples of projects done at other institutions of higher education:

  • Stories Untold – Syracuse University – The workshop series increased contact between Syracuse University drama students and working artists whose stories (in their work or their pathway to making it) were underrepresented in the department. Three working artists of varying disciplines spoke to classes, led a workshop and participated in a Q&A session with students.
  • Ally Skills Workshop for Poets and Writers – University of Massachusetts Amherst – The workshop worked to help students in the MFA for Poets and Writers to better understand and respond to issues regarding racism and white supremacy within their program. The workshop included a series of training events to educate and empower students on what to do in situations of racism and transphobia in the MFA program.

LLCC looking for volunteer tutors to assist with adult education program

LLCC is looking for volunteer tutors to assist with the adult education program. Volunteers are needed to help adults improve their reading, math, writing and/or English language skills.

“In light of COVID-19, we are offering multiple formats for tutoring, including face-to-face following health guidelines, remote and a combination of the two. If you are patient, enthusiastic and have a desire to help others, please consider volunteering as a tutor. We can help volunteers navigate the remote tutoring experience,” says Marybeth Hentrich, literacy coordinator.

Volunteers must be at least 18 years old with a high school diploma or its equivalent. LLCC will provide training, materials and resources for tutoring.

The time commitment will be a minimum of one hour a week (although some volunteer for two or three hours per week), and times are flexible based on each tutor’s availability. Tutors primarily work with students Monday through Friday but can also volunteer on the weekend.

If interested in volunteering, contact marybeth.hentrich@llcc.edu or 217-786-2349.

The volunteer tutoring program is made possible through a grant awarded by the Illinois State Library, a division of the office of the Illinois Secretary of State, using funds designated for literacy.

In addition to literacy services, LLCC Adult Education offers free GED preparation classes. For information, visit www.llcc.edu/adult-education or call 217-786-2349.
