Fall 2024 Construction Update

As the fall semester begins, I wanted to update the college community on some of the ongoing and upcoming construction projects you can expect to see around campus and Outreach Centers.

  • We are nearly complete with a renovation for student services in Menard Hall! We hope to have this open to serve students later in fall 2024. There will be a transition period as we move folks to their newly renovated space in Menard Hall.
  • We have a renovation planned for the science lab in the Litchfield Admin Building. The goal is to start this project in spring 2025 and have it ready for classes in fall 2025.
  • We are excited to see work start this fall on our EDA Grant funded project to construct a new storage building behind the Workforce Careers Center for ag, diesel, EMS and truck driver training and … to renovate Logan Hall for improvements to the OTA and EMS programs. We expect these projects to last through summer/fall of 2025. The work in Logan Hall will be phased and will occur during the regular semester so pardon the noise and dust as we improve this space.
  • Right next to the new storage building behind WCC, we will also start construction on a project to expand the existing truck driver training concrete pad, add additional lighting and drainage to this area. We are optimistic that this project will be complete in fall 2024.
  • Construction has begun on the renovation of Sangamon South to become the new construction training lab. This space will have a large lab space with tools needed for these programs along with two large classroom spaces, storage and office space. We expect this project to be complete in early summer 2025 for use starting in fall 2025.

We recently completed the new Facilities Master Plan and will have this posted to the SharePoint site soon.
We are also working our way through the FY25 approved small project list to prioritize and implement these projects. Of note on this list is an Innovation Center planned for Sangamon 0105. We are in preliminary layout/design phase of this project now with the hopes to have it completed later in the fall 2024/early 2025. We’ve had a busy summer and look forward to a productive fall as folks return to campus! Big thanks to all of the departments and teams that we have worked with to make all of these happen … your help is greatly appreciated!
