Cybersecurity presentation today, 2 p.m.

Join the LLCC Computer Science Academy today, Oct. 27, at 2 p.m. for an insightful presentation by Greg Matejka, IT security and assurance manager at LLCC, as he shares his expertise in overseeing the college’s robust cybersecurity framework. This online cybersecurity presentation will take place via Microsoft Teams teleconference and is expected to run for approximately 30-45 minutes, followed by an engaging Q&A session.

Greg’s talk will not only delve into his pivotal role at the college but will also explore the cybersecurity landscape in today’s job market. While the Q&A session will provide an opportunity for addressing technical inquiries, the primary focus will be on the role and the cybersecurity framework that LLCC has embraced.

Ordering promotional items with the college’s name or logo

As a reminder, if a college department (with the exception of Athletics, Student Life and Bookstore) has funds and wishes to purchase promotional items that would contain the college logo or name, here are the steps to take. These guidelines are intended to ensure consistency, quality and value of promotional items.

  1. Complete a PRM KBOX work order, indicating the items you wish to purchase and the quantity, color and other specifications. You may suggest a vendor, but it is not necessary.
  2. PRM will find a vendor for the items and provide you with price information.
  3. If you approve of the price, PRM will contact the vendor and provide the appropriate artwork and deadlines.
  4. You (or your department assistant) will need to create a requisition on Colleague for the item(s). Once the requisition is approved, the purchasing office will then send the vendor a PO to place the order.

LLCC alum opening for comedian David Sedaris

Luis Ignacio AndradeAn LLCC alum, Luis Ignacio Andrade, will be opening for author and comedian David Sedaris on Monday, Nov. 13 at the Harris Center for the Arts in Folsom, California. Andrade took Composition I with Tiffany Elliott in the fall 2019 and demonstrated a talent for writing autobiographical essays. In her feedback, Elliott told Andrade that his writing reminded her of Sedaris’ work. Andrade took two more writing courses at LLCC — Composition II with Elliott and Creative Writing with John Paul Jaramillo — and worked extensively with Laurie Myers and Lisa Avendano in the LLCC Writing Center to continue to hone his writing skills before transferring to the University of Louisville to study creative writing. In October 2022, Andrade had the opportunity to meet with Sedaris after a show and discuss his writing. Just over a year later, Andrade and Sedaris will appear on the same stage.

Your patience is appreciated as we perform this necessary testing.
