Matt Shaver, professor of digital media, was interviewed by WICS/FOX Illinois and WTAX about the EndGame Expo held yesterday. The expo hosted teams of students and the video games they created in Video Game Design I and Video Game Design II classes. They showcased the art, animation, sound and coding skills they acquired from various courses. Two members from one of last year’s teams, Samantha Wetter and Gregory White, were on hand to open the event. They recently published their game Floofy!, which is available for download in the App Store.

Chemistry Club trivia night, 6-9 p.m.

The LLCC Chemistry Club is hosting a trivia night today from 6-9 p.m. in the student union, located in the lower level of Menard Hall. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. Funds raised at the event will help support club educational activities.

Each team can have up to 10 members. The cost is $10 per person, payable at the event by cash or check made out to LLCC. Reservations can be made by emailing vholl2249@llcc.edu. Walk-ins are also welcome.

Gift cards to local businesses will be awarded to all members of the top three teams. Pizza, soda and snacks will be available for purchase.

LLCC Big Band to perform Monday, April 29

The LLCC Big Band will perform a spring concert on Monday, April 29 at 6:30 p.m. in A. Lincoln Commons. The event is free and open to the public. The band, under the direction of Manley Mallard, LLCC adjunct instructor of music, will perform favorites, such as “Come Rain or Come Shine,” “Over the Rainbow” and “Singin’ in the Rain.”  Featured student performers are Emma Bachman, vocalist; Tanner Stephens, trombone and vocalist; Madison Leek and Aaron Burkholder, trumpet; and Jeff Milner, percussion.

SAAPM finale runway show

In honor of Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month (SAAPM), the LLCC SAVE Taskforce and Compliance and Prevention office are hosting the annual red carpet runway show on Tuesday, April 30 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in A. Lincoln Commons. ALL individuals are encouraged to take a pledge to turn their awareness into action and then “walk the walk” down the runway. Heels are available for participants to use and are provided by the Prairie Center Against Sexual Assault. Heirloom tomatoes available soon

The LLCC Environmental Club’s annual tomato sale is underway. There are 10 varieties this year, some old favorites and some new options. Plants were started in March and are thriving in the LLCC Biology Greenhouse. They will be available for pick up May 9 and 10. All plants are $1 each. Orders will be filled in the order they are received. Please email your completed order forms to Becky Croteau (becky.croteau@llcc.edu) or drop them by Sangamon 2325 in person. Make sure you fill out both sides of the form.

MP3 Club hosting bake sale and collecting food pantry donations

The LLCC Music Performers, Patrons, Plus (MP3) Club will be hosting a bake sale and collecting donations for the LLCC Food Pantry on Monday, April 29 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in A. Lincoln Commons. Buy two baked goods and get one free with a non-perishable food donation!

Epicurean Club Italian dinner May 9

Culinary students in the LLCC Epicurean Club are hosting an Italian dinner on Thursday, May 9 in Bistro Verde. Several of these students traveled with LLCC Hospitality and Culinary Arts to Italy last year, and they are excited to show off the skills they learned.  Seatings available 5:30-7 p.m. Reservations are strongly encouraged by emailing nancy.sweet@llcc.edu. The cost is $35 per person for a four course meal.

EndGame Expo today, 10 a.m. to noon

EndGame Expo (formerly called Video Game Design Tournament) will be held in A. Lincoln Commons today, April 25, from 10 a.m. to noon. The expo will host teams and the video games they have created in Video Game Design I and Video Game Design II classes. Student teams will showcase the art, animation, sound and coding skills that they have acquired from various courses.

Members from one of last year’s teams will also be on hand to open the event. This team has recently published two of their games, which are available for download in the App Store.

Awards reception for Annual Student Art Show today, 5:30-7:30 p.m.

LLCC Student Art Show 2019LLCC Art welcomes the college community and the public to join them at a reception Thursday, April 25 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. during which award winners of the Annual Student Art Show will be announced in several categories. The student show is open in the James S. Murray Gallery on the second floor of Menard Hall until Friday, May 10. Corrin Smithson McWhirter, artist and gallery director for the Springfield Art Association served as juror for the show.
