LLCC Board of Trustees welcomes three new members; elects officers and honors retiring trustees

Attorney Rick Grenzebach administers the oath of office to newly elected LLCC Student Trustee Aaliyah Kissick and Trustee Samantha Raymond, re-elected Trustee and new Board Chair Wayne Rosenthal, and Trustee Vicki Davis.

The LLCC Board of Trustees welcomed three newly elected members, chose new board officers and honored retiring trustees at last night’s meeting.

Sworn in as new trustees were Vicki Davis of Riverton and Samantha Raymond of Springfield, along with new student trustee Aaliyah Kissick of Athens. Also taking the oath of office was Wayne Rosenthal of Morrisonville, who was re-elected to his seat on the board.

Davis, Raymond and Rosenthal will serve four-year terms, and Kissick will serve for one year.

Rosenthal, who had served two years as vice chair, was chosen as the new chair of the board. Vice chair is Ken Elmore of Waggoner, formerly secretary of the board, and the new secretary is Gordon Gates of Springfield. Other ongoing members of the board are Craig Findley of Jacksonville and Jeff Fulgenzi of Sherman.

Three trustees were honored as they retired from the board: Dennis Shackelford of Rochester, who served for six years, including the last two as chair; Justin Reichert of Springfield, also a former chair of the board, who served as trustee for 10 years; and student trustee Marie Hountondji, who is graduating from LLCC this May after a one year term.

Eight individuals serve on the LLCC Board of Trustees, seven elected from the college district and the eighth elected from among LLCC students. Trustees represent residents of the college district to assure that the college is providing programs and services that meet the educational needs of the communities it serves. The board operates in accordance with the guidelines established under the Illinois Public Community College Act and functions as the college’s policy-making body.
