Next Steps to Success

LLCC Student Life will be piloting a program for new students the week of Jan. 6. This program is called Next Steps to Success and is designed for our new students that have completed New Student Orientation and met with their student success coach, but need some additional support completing any last-minute items to be successful in their first semester and beyond at LLCC. Students will also have an opportunity to build skills that will aide in their success. The dates and times for these events are:

  • Wednesday, Jan. 8 from 9 a.m.-noon
  • Friday, Jan. 10 from 1-4 p.m.

New students can mix and match the program offerings that best meet their current needs to ensure they are ready for their first day of classes! Here are the program offerings during Next Steps to Success:

  • Classroom tours led by current student guides.
  • Getting textbooks and supplies from the bookstore.
  • Getting connected to crucial support services if they have not yet done so (LLCC Student Success, Financial Aid, Registration).
  • Connection tables (one-on-one walk-up meetings with various campus services such as student life, human resources, library and scholarships).
  • Breakout learning sessions surrounding various topics including: faculty and college expectations, campus technology, choosing a major/career, getting involved and more.
  • Prizes will be given out, and food and drinks will be available to those that attend.

LLCC Student Life is looking forward to welcoming our incoming students and continue their success journey here at LLCC and beyond! As you are talking with our new students, please make sure they know about this opportunity. We will be inviting all students who have completed orientation to these events soon!

LEAGUE grant applications available

Now through Jan. 31, the LLCC Foundation will be accepting applications for LEAGUE grants. A total of approximately $10,000 will be awarded for projects and programs at the college.

Faculty and staff make these grants possible through their generous giving to the annual faculty and staff campaign each spring known as LEAGUE.  Grant guidelines, application and budget worksheet may be obtained by contacting the LLCC Foundation at 786-2785 or LLCCFoundation@LLCC.edu or by stopping the Foundation office in Menard 1214.

In addition to the LEAGUE Grant program, donations to the LEAGUE campaign support LLCC students in a variety of ways including scholarships, program support and emergency needs. Each year, approximately 40 percent of LLCC faculty and staff contribute. Our thanks to our generous LLCC faculty and staff for donating nearly $50,000 to the 2019 LEAGUE campaign!

Again, the deadline to submit grant applications to the LLCC Foundation in Menard 1214 is Friday, Jan. 31 at 5 p.m. Awards will be announced at the LEAGUE kickoff on March 24.
