We’re not yet done with the welcome on main campus! The Logger Activities Board (LAB) and LLCC Student Life would like your help spreading the word about Week 2 events to students … and hope employees will participate in some of the fun as well!
And coming up in Week 3 … Rock, Paper, Scissors Tournament! Any LLCC community members can play! Between Tuesday, Sept. 3, and Friday, Sept. 6, challenge other participants (identified by a participation bracelet/necklace). Winner collects necklaces and challenges someone else. The student returning the most necklaces from each participating campus will win a prize! If you want to kick off the tournament in your class or program, email studentlife@llcc.edu and we’ll get you the supplies in advance!
Thanks to the generosity of the college community, LLCC Student Life was able to stock the shelves before classes began! We appreciate everyone that dropped off donations during before Convocation or throughout this week, as well as those who spread the word about the pantry and even accompany students on their first visit. You make this resource possible!
We need your help! The Ag & Workforce Expo will be held Sept. 19 from 8 a.m.-2 p.m., and we need volunteers! The Expo hosts more than 1,000 high school students who come to campus to visit local businesses and LLCC programs. We need all hands-on deck help this event run smoothly.
Sign up online for volunteering roles/shifts. You are welcome to sign up for more than one shift/role just make sure you don’t overlap your times since you can’t be in two places at once. We expect the morning to be busier than the afternoon so that’s when we’ll really need help.
Congratulations to Malena Kirgan of New Holland, who was selected this summer as a 2024 Coca-Cola Leaders of Promise Scholar. Malena is an ag transfer student and member of Phi Theta Kappa!
The Illinois Pork Producers Association is now accepting applications for the 2024 Illinois Pork Industry Group (PIG) at LLCC. All six sessions will be held on Thursdays at the Kreher Agriculture Center unless otherwise noted. Student transportation to offsite locations will be provided by LLCC.
For questions about the program, please have students contact Jennifer Tirey at jennifer@ilpork.com.

As the fall semester begins, I wanted to update the college community on some of the ongoing and upcoming construction projects you can expect to see around campus and Outreach Centers.
We recently completed the new Facilities Master Plan and will have this posted to the SharePoint site soon.
We are also working our way through the FY25 approved small project list to prioritize and implement these projects. Of note on this list is an Innovation Center planned for Sangamon 0105. We are in preliminary layout/design phase of this project now with the hopes to have it completed later in the fall 2024/early 2025. We’ve had a busy summer and look forward to a productive fall as folks return to campus! Big thanks to all of the departments and teams that we have worked with to make all of these happen … your help is greatly appreciated!
Tim Ervin, director of construction & EHS
LLCC Student Life is excited to get to welcome students to campus this semester with three weeks of programming!
