Fifth St. An additional visitation will be held from 9-9:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 7 at First United Methodist Church, 2941 S. Koke Mill Road, Springfield, prior to the funeral service. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery.

Student Life events next week: Tower of Refuge presentation, Veterans Day Ceremony

Monday, Nov.10: Tower of Refuge, noon-1 p.m., R.H. Stephens Room. The featured presenter for the program is Bevey Louden, co-founder and assistant director of Tower of Refuge, Inc. in Springfield. Tower of Refuge is a community-based nonprofit corporation supporting, assisting and equipping the incarcerated and the formerly incarcerated for successful reentry into society to become and remain healthy, productive citizens in the community, while also reconciling family relationships and protecting the integrity of neighborhoods.

Louden will share her unique experiences working in a grassroots organization whose primary purpose is to reduce the rate of recidivism through various programs and community effort throughout the state of Illinois. Free snacks are provided! This event is sponsored by the Logger Activities Board.

Tuesday, Nov. 11: 19th annual Veterans Day Ceremony, reception at noon followed by the 12:30 p.m. ceremony in the A. Lincoln Commons. LLCC is honoring faculty, staff and students who are currently serving or have served our country.  The public is invited to attend. This event is sponsored by the Student Life Office.

The LLCC Board of Trustees will hold its regular Nov. 19, 2014 board meeting at 6:15 p.m. at LLCC-Litchfield, 1 Lincoln Land Drive. A reception will precede the board meeting at 5:30 p.m. at the same location.

TODAY: Institutional Improvement Day, 9 a.m.-3 p.m., Cass Gym

LLCC is hosting a Strategy Forum at Institutional Improvement Day from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Cass Gymnasium. Today’s activities were planned by staff associated with the Higher Learning Commission. The Commission will share the day’s agenda at the beginning of the forum. The welcome and general overview will begin promptly at 9 a.m. It is advisable that you plan to arrive by 8:30 a.m.

Everyone should bring a pencil or pen; the Commission and the LLCC AQIP Steering Team will provide everything else needed for participation. Please leave tablets and/or laptops at home or in your office. Neither is needed for the planned activities. Coffee and other beverages will be available in the morning. Lunch will be served at noon.

National Radiologic Technology Week Nov. 2-8

National Radiologic Technology Week is an annual event established by the American Society of Radiologic Technologists to celebrate the important role Radiologic Week 2014medical imaging professionals play in patient care and health care safety. The weeklong celebration highlights the radiologic technology profession and raises public awareness about radiologic technologists. Lincoln Land Community College has offered an Associate Degree Radiography Program since the early 1970s, and it is still going strong!

The first National Radiologic Technology Week® was held July 22-29, 1979. The annual celebration was later changed to November to commemorate the anniversary of the x-ray’s discovery by Wilhelm Roentgen on Nov. 8, 1895.
The theme for this year is Many Views with One Vision.
