Bistro Verde open today-Thursday

Bistro To Go in the Workforce Careers Center
Bistro To Go, LLCC’s student-led café, is open today, tomorrow and Thursday this week, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. It offers a counter service concept with soups, salads, sandwiches, baked goods, coffees and drinks. It will be open Tuesdays-Thursdays through Oct. 5.

From Oct. 24-Nov. 16 (closed Nov. 7), the café will transform into Bistro Verde, a casual, dine-in restaurant experience.

Mental Health America webinar at noon today; Wellness Screen and Flu Shot clinic dates announced

A reminder that today is the Mental Health America webinar at noon: Safe Spaces: How Digital Environments Can Serve Youth. A link to register is available on the Health and Wellness tab of the HR portal.

The Wellness Screening and Flu Shot clinic dates have been announced along with annual Health and Wellness Fair. Opportunities for the screening will be on Thursday, Oct. 5 and Wednesday, Oct. 18 with the health and wellness fair taking place on Wednesday, Oct. 18. We hope to see you there!

Congratulations to Caitlin Davis

Congratulations to Caitlin Davis, student success coach, and her husband, Dale on the birth of their third child, Torrence Patrick Davis on July 5 who weighed 2 pounds, 15 ounces and measured 14.5 inches. He is still in the NICU but up to 8 pounds now. Congratulations, Davis family!

Caterpillar Inc. donates engines and transmissions to LLCC Diesel Technologies program

Many thanks to Caterpillar Inc. for its recent donation of four engines and 12 transmissions to LLCC’s diesel technologies program. The equipment will serve as a hands-on teaching tool for students as they prepare for careers in the high-demand, high-wage diesel service industry.

Caterpillar Inc. is the world’s leading manufacturer of construction and mining equipment, off-highway diesel and natural gas engines, industrial gas turbines and diesel-electric locomotives.

LLCC diesel technologies program director Jeff Gardner said, “These engines will be used in our Diesel Engine Theory and Repair class, and the transmissions will provide for manual training needs in the Truck Power Trains class. This substantial donation will benefit our students greatly.”

Fall Data Byte Conversation Series begins tomorrow

Join the Data Governance Council (DGC) for the first Data Byte conversation of the fall semester. This month’s focus will be the rurality of the LLCC student body. Join us on Tuesday, Sept.12, in Millennium Center, Room 2203 at 11:10 a.m. for this conversation.

Programming note: The Data Byte conversation series is sponsored by LLCC’s Data Governance Council. The fall series will take place on the second Tuesday of each month. The remaining dates include Tuesday, Oct. 10 (scholarships); Tuesday, Nov. 14 (probation/suspension students); and Tuesday, Dec. 12 (employees). All will be held in Millenium Center, Room 2203 from 11:10-11:50 a.m. Feel free to bring your lunch. Or maybe you’ll be the lucky attendee who wins a Quiznos lunch!
