Upcoming LLCC Choir and Band performances

LLCC Music (made out of letters and music notes)The LLCC Choir and Band invite the public to free concerts in A. Lincoln Commons on the LLCC-Springfield campus, 5250 Shepherd Rd.

LLCC’s Choir performs “Homeward” on Friday, Dec. 1 at 1 and 7 p.m. Selections include “Homeward Bound,” “Take Me Home,” “I’m Going Home” and “Let the River Run.” The choir is directed by Laurie Lewis-Fritz and conducted by See Tsai Chan.

The LLCC Band performs in concert Monday, Dec. 4, at 7 p.m. Selections will range from concert band standards to holiday music. The band is directed by Jason Waddell. Soloists include Carter Demarco, Clay Higginson, Anna Lindstrom and Kelly Wells.

LLCC-Litchfield Student Club holds Thanksgiving food drive

The LLCC-Litchfield Student Club sponsored a Thanksgiving food drive from Nov. 6-17 in which students and faculty collected more than 200 non-perishable food items. These items were donated to the CEFS Economic Opportunity Corporation in Montgomery County.

Classes competed to collect the most items for the drive and win a pizza party. First Year Experience taught by Jessie Blackburn was honored as the class with the most donations.

The Illinois Community College Marketing Collaborative held a press conference yesterday, announcing the launch of a new statewide campaign, “For Every Student, For Every Community.” The campaign focuses on community colleges in Illinois and the many valuable and vital benefits they bring to the state.

The messaging centers on five truths that all Illinois community colleges share.
