Human Resource News – Did You HeaR?

Blue horn with the words - Did you hear?Did you HeaR that employees are invited to attend a FREE Health Screening and Health Fair each year? This screening is available to benefit eligible employees and includes blood work and a flu vaccine.

  • The blood test will provide information about cholesterol levels, kidney function, anemia, and more.
  • Employees also have the option to add on additional tests for a fee including blood type, Vitamin D levels, Thyroid function, and more.

All employees additionally have access to the CHC Wellbeing portal to view lab results, attend webinars, read articles and sign up for monthly newsletters. Employees who complete the health risk assessment and participate in the health screening are then eligible to receive a $50 gift card.

Join the upcoming annual screening being held on Thursday, Oct. 10 and Wednesday, Oct. 23 from 7-11:30 a.m. in the Student Union. Any questions can be sent to HR@llcc.edu.

Teachers as Writers Panel Today

 

Lit Fest continues today with a writers panel in the LLCC Library. LLCC English and Humanities has planned two weeks worth of activities to recognize Banned Books Week, Sept. 22-28 and October’s National Book Month. This week’s activities include:

  • 6-8 p.m. – “All Booked Up”: An Evening of Literacy Reading with Local Authors in A. Lincoln Commons.

September DataBit – Join the Campus Conversation!

It is never too late to join a DataBit conversation. The DataBit series exists to spark campus conversations on a single data point. Institutional Research and Effectiveness has been visualizing and distributing the DataBit once a month via email. Send an email to Tricia Kujawa to be added to the distribution list. Our September DataBit is Making the Leap: Who are LLCC’s Adult Ed students, and how do those making the leap to undergraduate-level work perform?

Thank you Lions Club

Special thanks to the Springfield Lions Club who provided hearing and vision screenings on Wednesday to children enrolled in LLCC’s Child Development Center. If a child is referred to a doctor for vision issues, the Lions pay for the visit and glasses. If a child needs to see a doctor for their hearing, the Lions will pay for the visit and a hearing aid, if it is needed. Thank you Lions.

Join the Walktober Challenge

A person's feet walking in the fall leaves.Get ready to move this October by joining Walktober, the month long walking challenge, running from Oct. 1 to October 31.  Teams will consist of a captain and up to five additional participants, making it a fun and supportive way to stay active with your colleagues. Whether you’re a regular walker or just looking for a reason to get outside more, Walktober is a great way to boost your wellness while enjoying some friendly competition. LLCC Open House, Oct. 14

Share the news, LLCC’s fall Open House is Monday, Oct. 14, 2-5 p.m. at the Springfield campus and Jacksonville, Taylorville and Litchfield Outreach Centers.

“Start here at LLCC, whether you are looking to earn a degree or train for a hands-on career,” says LLCC President Charlotte Warren, Ph.D. “I invite you to join us at this event to explore majors, our low cost and personalized services that help students reach their goals.”

Cardboard Boat Regatta Registration ends today

Cardboard Boat Regatta. Lincoln Land Community College.Today is the final day to register your team for LLCC’s third annual Cardboad Boat Regatta. Register at the LLCC Police Department in Sangamon Hall South, by calling 217-786-2278 or online.

The regatta happens on Friday, Sept. 27 at Lake Macoupin! Check in will be 9-10 a.m. with the race starting at 11 a.m.

The LLCCPD can provide cardboard, while supplies last. (Please note: duct tape is not provided.) A boat construction area is provided under the overhang between Sangamon Hall North and Sangamon Hall South. All painting must be done in the grass west of the construction area. Please respect the space and keep your site tidy. Contact LLCC PD for more details.

The boats will be on display on the lawn west of the Helen Hamilton Center prior to the race. Awards will be given in such categories as fastest boat, best design, LLCC spirit and Titanic!
