Drs. Jason Dockter and Carmen Allen to serve interim assignments

Dr. Jason Dockter, professor of English, has accepted an assignment to serve as interim assistant vice president of academic services. Dr. Carmen Allen, professor of computer programming, has accepted an assignment to serve as interim dean of business and computer technologies.

Both assignments begin June 4.

Ron Riggle, director of athletics, talked about LLCC Athletics and summer sports camp opportunities with Sam Madonia of Sports Radio 1450 on May 24.

Notice regarding end-of-month deposits

The deadline to submit deposits to the LLCC Finance Department is tomorrow, May 30 before noon. Please hand the deposit to Elyse CalhounNichole Coffey or Robin Ackman as monies should not be left unattended.

As a reminder, if you have taken in funds, it is necessary to submit them and corresponding deposit slips to the finance department on a daily basis.

Bill Harmon, program coordinator for the agriculture program, spoke at a meeting of the Sunrise Rotary Club in Jacksonville on May 22 regarding the recent major gift and expansion plans for the program.

Our condolences to family and friends of Naomi Fowler and Nina Giavaras

Condolences to family and friends of Naomi Jean Fowler, former LLCC administrator, who passed away May 21. Naomi retired in 1995 after 15 years of service at LLCC. She also served as a state director for Elderhostel (Road Scholar)  and founded LLCC’s Academy of Lifelong Learning. Visitation will be held Saturday, May 26, 10-11:45 a.m. at Laurel United Methodist Church in Springfield, and the funeral ceremony will be held at noon. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery. Read the obituary.

Our condolences also to the family of Urania “Nina” P. Giavaras who passed away May 22. Nina retired from LLCC as the director of the study skills center after 20 years of service. Visitation is being held from 10 a.m. to noon on Thursday, May 24 at St. Anthony Hellenic Orthodox Church, and the funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery. IT announces summer hours for the help desk

Between the spring semester and summer session, LLCC’s IT Help Desk is open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The summer session hours will be 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Thursday with walk-in support from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
