The family has entrusted Shafer-Perfetti & Assalley Funeral Home in Taylorville with services. A private family service will be held, followed by interment at Fraley Cemetery in Taylorville. A livestream of the service of remembrance will be available on Saturday, Aug. 22, 11 a.m. at https://client.tribucast.com/tcid/94484291. Three LLCC students awarded national PTK scholarships

LLCC students Nicole Erwin-Gaynor of Taylorville, Jennifer Haggerty of Chandlerville and Isis Thompson of Springfield are among 207 Phi Theta Kappa members nationwide to be named 2020 Coca-Cola Leaders of Promise Scholars and will each receive $1,000 scholarships.

“We are proud to have three recipients of this prestigious award in one year,” said Dr. Claire Gordon, LLCC professor of communication and Phi Theta Kappa coordinator. “Phi Theta Kappa is an honor society that not only recognizes, but also encourages top academic achievement as well as development of leadership skills.”

The Coca-Cola Leaders of Promise Scholarship Program helps new Phi Theta Kappa members defray educational expenses while enrolled in associate degree programs. New Professional Development menu tab

What is professional development? It is improving, updating and expanding knowledge and skills that support an individual’s role within the college and/or the overall mission, vision and values of the institution.

There is now a tab on the LincIn menu to help centralize communication about professional development opportunities. By clicking on this tab, faculty and staff can see all articles submitted on conferences, workshops, webinars and more.

The Campus Climate Team’s Professional Development project team has been working on ways to enhance professional development, including the communication about available opportunities. Participating in professional development helps us keep our knowledge and skills relevant and up-to-date, and sets us up for success!
