Today is the last day for Bistro To Go this semester. The student-run café is open as a counter service concept, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., offering soups, salads, sandwiches, baked goods, coffees and drinks. The Bistro To Go menu and online to-go orders are available at www.llcc.edu/bistro-verde.
Beginning Oct. 22, the restaurant will re-open with a fine dining concept, offering a full-service lunch experience that features appetizers, soups, salads, desserts, coffees and drinks.
Bistro Verde is located inside the east entrance of the Workforce Careers Center on the LLCC campus in Springfield.
LLCC Health Professions is offering two “Stop the Bleed” sessions tomorrow, Oct. 4, from 9:30-10:30 a.m. and 1-2 p.m. in Logan Hall, Room 1112. The class will cover how and when to manage life altering bleeding as well as time to practice the skills presented. This training goes hand in hand with the “Stop the Bleed” kits that have been added to all the AED locations across the campus and outreach centers. Space is limited. To sign up, email Nick Ferreira. LLCC is featuring select works from the college’s permanent collection through Nov. 1. The exhibit can be viewed in the Trutter Museum/Murray Gallery, located in Menard Hall, on weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The exhibit showcases a selection of two-dimensional works. These pieces, which have circulated through LLCC’s campus hallways and offices over the years, are either familiar, newly refreshed or ready to begin a new display rotation once construction in their usual locations is completed. This exhibit offers a brief spotlight for a few of these pieces before they resume their tour across the campus.
The mission of LLCC’s permanent collection is to offer the college and its community a public display of art throughout campus, aimed at broadening visual knowledge, increasing aesthetic awareness and celebrating creativity; to provide students with the opportunity to view, study and appreciate original works of art, focusing on various aspects such as media, technique, aesthetics and style; and to create an aesthetically pleasing environment that enhances both learning and work.
Over the years, the LLCC’s permanent collection has expanded to include artwork created by students and faculty, pieces purchased by the college and generous donations. The collection also now includes a substantial number of pieces from the Trutter family’s donation of art and artifacts.
Remodeling of the new facilities for LLCC Student Services in Menard Hall is nearing completion! Faculty and staff are invited to take a tour of the new facilities on Monday, Oct. 7. Tours will be available 1-3 p.m., and Student Services staff will be on hand to point out the new features of the space.
A press conference and ribbon cutting for is set for earlier that day at 10:30 a.m.

The LLCC Foundation is seeking new members to serve on the LEAGUE Committee. LEAGUE is an acronym for Leaders Establishing Annual Gifts Underwriting Education and is the annual faculty and staff giving campaign. The LEAGUE Committee chooses a theme for the campaign and plans the activities for the kickoff on Professional Development Day in March. If you are interested in joining the fun by serving on the LEAGUE Committee, we would love to hear from you! The committee meets once a month and serves for two years. We ask the following of committee members:
Attend the one-hour monthly committee meetings (November-March).
Help the day of the kickoff luncheon on Professional Development Day, Tuesday, March 25.
Make a contribution to the LEAGUE Campaign. The amount is entirely up to you. It can be $1.
LLCC-Jacksonville will host a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) completion event and Q&A sessions to learn more about getting started at LLCC on Wednesday, Oct. 16. The events are free and open to prospective students and family members.
Families who would like assistance completing the FAFSA can schedule a 30-minute appointment between 2-6 p.m. (last appointment at 5:30 p.m.) to meet with an LLCC financial aid professional.
Prospective students can learn more about getting started at LLCC during 45-minute Q&A sessions. For students who are undecided on their major, sessions will be held at 2:30 and 4:30 p.m. Sessions for those interested in workforce or health care careers will take place at 3:30 and 5:30 p.m. LLCC professionals will also be available to assist with completion of the online application and next steps.
