CDS accepting donations for Annual Silent Auction

Fall is here and that means it is time to start thinking SILENT AUCTION!  Our auction this year will be on Tuesday, October 28 from 10:00 a.m. – 2 p.m.   Our auction this year is limited to just one day so be sure to come up to the Stephens Room that day before 2:00 to place your bid.  All proceeds go to the Career Development Services Emergency Fund which directly helps our students who may run into a situation during the semester that would otherwise keep them from succeeding in their classes.  In past years we have helped with meals, books, school supplies, warm clothing, car repairs, health tests required for some of our programs and even laptops from Computer Banc.  As always, we cannot do this event without your generous donations so bring in anything you have never used, have no use for or are just plain tired of using!  Bring your donations to Career Development Services anytime.  See you on the 28th!

EHST Safety Tip of the Month

The September safety tip brought to you by the Environmental Health & Safety Team:  September is designated as National Campus Safety Awareness Month. Because of that, we would like to take this opportunity to urge everyone to take a few minutes and think about how they would answer this question: “If an emergency happens while I’m on campus, what would I do?”
Emergencies can take many different forms, but one thing is for certain; the time to figure out what you should be doing during an emergency is not when it’s occurring.  Click HERE to read more and find out what you can do now to prepare for an emergency!

Eat at Bob Evans and help raise $$ for an LLCC Foundation scholarship fund

The LLCC Foundation will be the beneficiary of a scholarship fundraiser by the Springfield Civic Garden Club on Sept. 6, 7, 8 and 9. For all those eating at a Bob Evans restaurant in Springfield (4221 Conestoga Dr., near Meijer and 3050 Stevenson Dr.) on those dates, Bob Evans will donate cash for 15 percent of all food orders, including eat-in or carryout, to the LLCC/SCGC scholarship fund. You will need to print a copy of this flier for each guest check. All are welcome to participate, but MUST take a copy of the flier to the restaurant and present it at the time of check-out. The scholarship is open to LLCC students in the horticulture, landscape design, turf management and environmental-related programs.

Reminder: Theatre auditions next week

LLCC Theatre will hold auditions Monday, Sept. 8 and Tuesday, Sept. 9 for its fall production of “The Shadows of Edgar Allan Poe.” The open auditions are being held from 7 to 9 p.m. in Sangamon Hall South, room 0009 on the LLCC-Springfield campus. Questions may be directed to mark.hardiman@llcc.edu or by calling 217.786.4942. Persons unable to audition Sept. 8 or 9 should email Professor Hardiman.

The play is a devised piece of theatre that will be built by the acting ensemble, which will choose from Poe’s most well-known and accessible works. Through a collaborative process, the ensemble will develop the performance under Professor Hardiman’s direction. Read more…
