Monday, Sept. 22: Chinese Acrobats! Come to the A. Lincoln Commons from noon-1 p.m. to see this multifaceted and multicultural production featuring dazzling acrobatic displays and formidable feats of daring and balance. This event is sponsored by the Logger Activities Board.

Thursday, Sept. 25: Showoff YOUR culture! Come to the A. Lincoln Commons from 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. to help decorate mini flags to have YOUR culture represented at the Multicultural Fest on Oct 1! All flags will be displayed on a banner for all to see and enjoy. Snacks will be provided for all participants. This event is sponsored by the Logger Activities Board.

Staff/Faculty Volunteers Needed for Day of Service
Saturday, Oct. 18: LLCC Day of Service, 11:30 a.m-5 p.m. Join students in making a difference in the Springfield community by participating in service projects at local community agencies. Transportation, lunch and supplies are included. We will meet in the R. H. Stephens Room at 11:30 a.m. for lunch then head off to the community organizations. Pre-registration is REQUIRED. Loggerpalooza today, 10-1 outside A. Lincoln Commons

LOGGERPALOOZA 2014 will be held from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. outside A. Lincoln Commons. Students, faculty, and staff  invited –  enjoy live  entertainment by Patrick Lentz, vendor booths, and campus services. Also for students: Club Information Day is being held in the R. H. Stephens room from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. with information about various clubs.

Thank you to those who helped with Rochester 6th Grade Tours!

The PRM staff would like thank everyone who assisted in any way with the nearly 180 Rochester 6th graders who visited campus Thursday.

During a special presentation, the LLCC Chemistry Club and Law Enforcement Assistant Professor Randy Rue wowed the students with demonstrations highlighting classes and programs at LLCC. Mary Beth Ray, director of Career Development Services, talked to the students about “Finding Their Future” and how to make wise decisions when choosing a career.

Following the presentation, students toured the Workforce Careers Center and the Nursing and Emergency Services areas.

Faculty and staff providing information to students included Jay Kitterman, Cynthia Maskey, Janice Badgett, Bob Howard, Nancy Sweet, Jolene Adams, Julie Rourke, Dan Sheedy, Dave Green, Keven Tait, Jim Betts, Bob Andrews, Leon Williams, Bill Harmon, Nick Ferreira.

As students heard from faculty and staff about various careers and programs, they enjoyed mini cupcakes made by the Culinary Arts program, popcorn from a popper fueled with solar energy and soda/ice made in the HVAC department. They also experienced honking the horn in a semi-truck and got some Kodak moments in the Jaguar and go-cart in the automotive area.

Early Alert: Retaining Students through Referrals and Support
Facilitators: Chris Barry, Director, Retention & Student Success, & Carmen Allen, Professor, Business and Technologies
Early alert is a faculty referral process that is intentional and coordinated between the faculty and student services. This session will include information about the current alert system that is in place, why it exists, how effective it is and how you can participate.
