Time to submit Veterans Day Recognition Form yet today

LLCC Student Life is preparing for LLCC’s 26th annual Veterans Day Ceremony, which will be held on Nov. 11 in A. Lincoln Commons. The ceremony honors all veterans including LLCC faculty, staff and students who served in the armed forces.

Current LLCC staff and faculty who are active or inactive military are invited to share their name and branch of military with Student Life so that their service can be recognized in the Veterans Day Ceremony program. Please fill out this Veterans Day Recognition form yet today to be recognized in this year’s ceremony. If you have any questions, please email studentlife@llcc.edu.

Today is the last day to vote for LLCC OMOT People’s Choice Award!

On My Own TimeLLCC’s On My Own Time (OMOT) exhibit concludes today.  Please check it out and vote for the LLCC’s People’s Choice Award before the end of today! The artist of the favorite piece at LLCC will receive a $100 Visa gift card courtesy of the Philip and Mary Kathryn Trutter Museum.

The OMOT city-wide exhibit will be at the Springfield Art Association (SAA) Nelson Gallery, 700 North Fourth Street, Nov. 3-20. The city-wide awards, as well as the city-wide best of show award will be announced at a reception at the SAA on Wednesday, Nov. 3, 5:30-7:30 p.m.

OMOT is a program of the Springfield Area Arts Council offering individuals the opportunity to display original art created outside the office.

Bistro To Go open today

Bistro To Go in the Workforce Careers Center
Bistro Verde, LLCC’s student-run café, is open during the fall 2021 semester as Bistro To Go. It is open on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. through Nov. 18 (except for Nov. 2). You are invited to enjoy takeout soups, salads, sandwiches, baked goods, coffees and drinks prepared by LLCC culinary arts, baking and pastry, and hospitality students. View the fall 2021 menu!

Sculpture dedication ceremony planned Monday, Nov. 1, 1 p.m.

You are invited to attend the dedication ceremony of the newly installed sculptures on campus: “Paradigm Shift” by Bruce Chaban, “Immigrant” by Mike Baur “ and “Take Five” by Pat McDonald. A brief ceremony at 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 1, will recognize Terry A. Travis, M.D. for his generous donation. The sculptors, family and friends will be in attendance. Refreshments will be served.

The Inclusivity Speaker Series will be hosting a livestream of Ben Glenn, the Chalkguy, on Wednesday, Nov. 3, at 11 a.m. in A. Lincoln Commons. Ben struggled with attention deficit throughout his formative years. Rather than let it hold him back, he chose to be inspired by his condition.
