Take a tour of student services in Menard Hall
Remodeling of the new facilities for LLCC Student Services in Menard Hall is nearing completion! Faculty and staff are invited to take a tour of the new facilities on Monday, Oct. 7. Tours will be available 1-3 p.m., and Student Services staff will be on hand to point out the new features of the space.

The LLCC Cutest Pet Contest is currently underway to support the United Way campaign. Today, there will be voting tables set up in two locations on main campus with photos of all the pets and a QR code to vote. Tables will be located in the A. Lincoln Commons lobby near the Info Desk and in the Kreher Agriculture Center lobby.
The contest will run until end of the day on Oct. 11. Donations to United Way are made by casting your vote for the cutest pet(s) of LLCC faculty and staff. You may vote for multiple pets, more than once. You can also vote through this online link.
Other ways to support LLCC’s United Way campaign include through employee payroll deduction. You may also make an outright gift via credit card or check. Learn more about United Way and make your pledge on the LLCC United Way donation page.
“Stop the Bleed” Training today
LLCC Health Professions is offering two “Stop the Bleed” sessions today, Oct. 4, from 9:30-10:30 a.m. and 1-2 p.m. in Logan Hall, Room 1112. The class covers how and when to manage life altering bleeding as well as time to practice the skills presented. This training goes hand in hand with the “Stop the Bleed” kits that have been added to all the AED locations across the campus and outreach centers. Space is limited. To sign up, email Nick Ferreira. Walk-ins are also welcome, as space allows.
20th annual Multicultural Fest, Oct. 9
LLCC invites the public to its 20th annual Multicultural Fest Wednesday, Oct. 9. The event takes place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Trutter Center on the Springfield campus, 5250 Shepherd Rd. LLCC Outreach Centers in Jacksonville, Litchfield and Taylorville will also host celebrations. The events are free and open to the public.
The annual Multicultural Fest showcases various cultures through food, entertainment and exhibits.
On the Springfield campus, local food trucks are offering free samples at the event. Restaurants serving from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. include Azteca, B & W and Gyros Stop.
Entertainment will be provided by DJ Yinka, Tebe Zalango (spoken word), Tom Irwin (music) and student performers from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Expressions Body Art & Design will offer henna body art from 11 a.m.to 2 p.m.
College and community partners with exhibits include LLCC Logger Activities Board, LLCC Adult Education, Springfield Baha’i Faith, Garvey Tubman Cultural Arts and Research Center, the Immigration Project, Illinois Migrant Council, Springfield Lincoln Library, Lithuanian American Club of Central IL, Islamic Society of Greater Springfield, Springfield Center for Independent Living, Unity of Springfield and the World Affairs Council of Central Illinois.
LLCC-Jacksonville, 32 N. Central Park Plaza, will provide food from local restaurants, trivia and displays from English language learning students from 2-3 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 10. LLCC-Litchfield, 1 Lincoln Land Dr., will feature food from local restaurants and a variety of coffee from different countries from 12:30 to 3 p.m. on Oct. 9. LLCC-Taylorville, 800 S. Spresser, will showcase snacks from around the world and grab-and-go activities from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Oct. 9.

LLCC-Litchfield held blood drive Sept. 30
The American Red Cross held a blood drive in the multipurpose room at LLCC-Litchfield on Sept. 30 with 13 total units collected, and 54% were first-time donors. We are proud of our students and staff for participating in this life saving opportunity!

The fourth of five LLCC workgroups, inspired by convocation, meets Oct. 10 from 1-3 p.m. in Kreher Agriculture Center, Room 1117.
Choosing a Health Care Career: Pathways & Entry Barriers
The need for health care providers is increasing in a post-COVID world that has led to a decrease in those choosing health care careers. That means that we need to promote pathways and career opportunities in those fields while also reducing/eliminating barriers to enrollment. This does not mean reducing quality, but it does mean we need to make entry for qualified applicants more seamless and demonstrate that our programs should be the health care programs of choice throughout our district.

Wellness screenings, flu shots and health fair
There is still time to sign up for the wellness screening and flu shot clinic on Oct. 10 in the Student Union in Menard Hall. There will be one more opportunity on Oct. 23. View the Oct. 2 email from HR for the link and program code to sign up!
Benefit-eligible employees are eligible to participate at no charge. Spouses of benefit-eligible employees who are on a LLCC health insurance plan are also eligible to participate at no charge. Benefit-eligible employees who complete the health risk assessment survey and a blood draw will receive a $50 Visa gift card!
