Retirement Reception for Joe Roth Tuesday, Dec. 6

Faculty and staff are invited to a reception to honor Joe Roth, programmer analyst, as he retires from LLCC after 29 years of dedicated service.

The reception is being held Tuesday, Dec. 6 from 2-4 p.m. in the Robert H. Stephens Room. Refreshments will be served.

Please join us as we celebrate Joe’s time at LLCC!

PTK hosts showing of “Miss Representation” tomorrow

PTK will host a viewing and discussion of the documentary “Miss Representation” tomorrow, Dec. 6, 6 to 8 p.m. in the Trutter Center. The public is invited at no charge.

“Miss Representation” depicts how women are portrayed in American media and how this affects their position in society. Participants are invited to stay after the viewing to discuss issues raised in the film.

LLCC’s Phi Theta Kappa chapter is sponsoring this event as an Honors in Action Project, which is a requirement to maintain its five-star (highest) chapter status.

Dee Krueger,  director, LLCC-Taylorville, was interviewed Thursday, Dec. 1, on the 96.3 WTIM Morning Talkshow.  She discussed spring classes, registration dates, applying for LLCC Foundation scholarships, student life activities and encouraged constituents to complete the community survey.

Change to SMTD Bus Route

The SMTD Board voted at its November meeting to reduce evening hours for some routes, affecting Route 905 that stops at LLCC.

Beginning in January, weeknight service will be reduced by one hour  – Night service after the change would consist of one-hour trips at 6:45, 7:45, 8:45 and 9:45 on the current routes 901, 902, 903 and 905.
This means the stops at LLCC will occur at 7:15, 8:15, 9:15 and 10:15.

On My Own Time (OMOT) City-wide Exhibit begins Friday, Dec 2

OMOT logoTen entries from LLCC’s in-house OMOT exhibit have moved on to the OMOT city-wide exhibit, which will be at the Springfield Art Association (SAA), 700 N. Fourth Street, from December 2-21. The city-wide awards, as well as the best of show award will be announced at a reception at the SAA for all OMOT participants to be held on December 6, from 5:30-7:30 p.m.

These LLCC colleagues have entries that have moved on to the city-wide exhibit. We wish them well!

Subway hours

Subway announces the following hours for December & January:

Dec. 1 – 16: standard hours of 8 a.m.-6 p.m., Monday-Thursday, and 8 a.m.-3 p.m. on Friday; except for Monday, Dec. 12, Subway will close at 3 p.m. and on Thursday, Dec. 15 they will close at 2 p.m.

The week of January 2 – 6: hours shortened to 9 a.m.-1 p.m. The rest of January: standard hours of 8 a.m.-6 p.m., Monday-Thursday and 8 a.m.-3 p.m. on Friday; except for Jan 16, when the college will be closed for the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday.
