The new IT Portal is now available! It can be accessed through the LLCC Employee Portal or by following this link: https://llcconline.sharepoint.com/IT.

The IT Portal site features the following:

2018 LLCC Honored Alumni Award

LLCC Alumni Services is accepting nominations for its 2018 Honored Alumni Award. Nominate an LLCC alum for the award by completing the form that is available at www.llcc.edu/honored-alumni-award. The deadline for submissions is Dec. 15, 2017.

Nominations will be scored on the following four criteria: 1) role model – inspiring excellence in others, 2) outstanding success – attaining significant career or personal achievements, 3) impact – achieving accomplishments which have changed the community for the better and 4) community service – demonstrating a visible commitment to the community through leadership and/or volunteerism.

Additionally, nominees must have successfully completed coursework at LLCC and be able to attend LLCC’s commencement ceremony on May 18, 2018.

“All Lit Up” Arts and Humanities Festival events for Sept. 28

  • John Paul Jaramillo, LLCC professor of English
  • Jon Tribble, poet, editor at “Crab Orchard Review” and creative writing faculty at Southern Illinois University-Carbondale
  • Dr. Ted Morrisey, faculty in Lindenwood University’s MFA in Writing program and author
  • Allison Joseph, poet, editor at “Crab Orchard Review” and creative writing faculty at Southern Illinois University-Carbondale

The new “All Lit Up” Arts and Humanities Festival features a number of events from Sept. 25-28 on the Springfield campus and at LLCC-Jacksonville in conjunction with Banned Books Week, a national observance celebrating the freedom to read. After 16 years of hosting a banned books reading on campus, Dr. Deborah Brothers, professor of English, decided to expand the observance and host a multi-day festival. She is assisted by Leslie Stalter, professor of art; Dr. David Leitner, professor of English; Mark Hardiman, professor of theatre; and LLCC student Terrelle Jackson.

Thirteen first place ribbons in LLCC’s “On My Own Time” exhibit!

On My Own TimeA panel of judges from the Springfield Area Arts Council completed their review yesterday of LLCC’s “On My Own Time” art exhibit and awarded 13 first place ribbons! Several other awards were also handed out. So take a moment today to walk over to the Trutter Center, take in the full display and cast your vote for the LLCC People’s Choice recipient.

The exhibit, entitled “Inspired,” features 37 works of art created by LLCC faculty and staff and is open Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. People’s Choice voting continues through Dec. 6, with the winner receiving a $50 Visa gift card courtesy of the Trutter Museum.

End of the month deposits due Sept. 28 before noon

The deadline to submit your deposits to the LLCC Finance Department is today, Thursday, Sept. 28 before noon. As a reminder, if you’ve taken in funds, it is necessary to submit them and corresponding deposit slips to the LLCC Finance Department on a daily basis.

Nominate a deserving colleague for KUDOS

Key or Unique Demonstrations of Outstanding Service award nominations will be accepted through today, Wednesday, Sept. 27. Nominate a deserving colleague by filling out the online submission form. Please use the Chrome or Firefox browser when completing this form. The next set of KUDOS awards will be announced Oct. 12.

The LLCC Chemistry Club is hosting a nacho bar on Wednesday, Sept. 27 in A. Lincoln Commons from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Proceeds will support hurricane relief efforts. So stop by today for a plate of nachos and a soda! The cost for nachos and a drink is $5, and it is $1 for a drink only.

Higher Learning Commission Systems Appraisal Feedback Report

LLCC is mid-cycle in our Reaffirmation of Accreditation with the Higher Learning Commission (HLC). For an AQIP pathway institution, this means submitting a Systems Portfolio for review. The year-three portfolio is formative for the college, designed to provide feedback on which of our improvement efforts have been effective and which need more attention prior to submitting the year-seven portfolio. Feedback on our Systems Portfolio comes to us in the form of a Systems Appraisal Feedback Report, a byproduct of the Systems Appraisal process. In the appraisal, a peer review team (1) looks for evidence that the Criteria for Accreditation and the core components are met and (2) verifies the continuing improvement efforts at the College via review of the six AQIP Pathway Categories. A copy of our portfolio and the appraisal feedback report can be found on the LLCC Employee Portal.

Overall, the College received strong remarks for all the core components of Criterion One – Mission and Criterion Two – Integrity. Our response to Criterion Three – Teaching and Learning: Evaluation and Improvement was found to be a mix of strong and sufficient ratings. The peer review team did express concern with our response to one specific core component of Criterion Four – Teaching and Learning: Evaluation and Improvement, and this finding led to an unclear rating for one core component of Criterion Five – Resources, Planning and Institutional Effectiveness. This means that college wide we need to give more attention to making data informed decisions and systematically documenting that process. It also means that we need to greatly speed up implementation of the academic assessment program, and we must have more faculty and programs involved in that process. These concerns are highlighted in the Strategic Challenges sections of the Systems Appraisal Feedback Report with additional comments provided in Appendices B and C.

The Systems Appraisal process is intended to foster institutional improvement, but it is not prescriptive about what actions we take. We will begin our next steps on Institutional Improvement Day, Friday, October 6. It is important that each member of the college community spend some time reviewing both the Systems Portfolio and the Appraisal Feedback Report. The entire college community will need to work together over the next four years to insure we are prepared for our next Systems Portfolio in 2021 and Reaffirmation of Accreditation in 2022.

Lincoln Land Community College is committed to assisting all members of our campus community in providing for their own safety and security. The annual security and fire safety compliance document is available on the LLCC Police Department website at: http://police.llcc.edu/pdf/2017-2018-Crime-Report.pdf.

If you would like to receive a hard copy of the LLCC Police Department Annual Security Report 2017-2018 which contains this information, you can stop by the LLCC Police Department located in Sangamon Hall South at LLCC-Springfield, or you can request that a copy be mailed to you by calling 217-786-2278.

The website and booklet contain information regarding campus security and personal safety including topics such as: crime prevention, fire safety, campus police law enforcement authority, crime reporting policies, disciplinary procedures and other matters of importance related to security and safety on campus. They also contain information about crime statistics for the three previous calendar years concerning reported crimes that occurred on campus, in certain off-campus buildings or property owned or controlled by LLCC and on public property within, or immediately adjacent to, and accessible from the campus.

This information is required by law and is provided by the LLCC Police Department.
