Collaborative PSA exhibit by Art 200 and English 101 students

LLCC’s Trutter Museum / Murray Gallery in Menard Hall is hosting a public service announcement (PSA) exhibit born from an innovative collaboration between students in Laura Anderson’s Art 200 course and Laurenn York’s English 101 course. The exhibit highlights interdisciplinary learning by featuring PSAs developed through a partnership between writing and design students.

During the semester, students in English 101 took on the role of “clients,” drafting proposals that outlined the purpose, audience and message of a PSA. These proposals were then handed off to students in Art 200, who transformed the written ideas into visually compelling graphic designs. The collaboration allowed composition students to hone their rhetorical thinking and analysis skills, while art students gained authentic experiences as designers working with a client.

The completed PSAs paired with their original proposals will be unveiled today, Dec. 5, 1 p.m. in the Trutter Museum / Murray Gallery. The exhibit showcases a diverse range of topics that resonate with the campus community, offering visitors a look at issues through the lens of student creativity.

Laura Anderson, professor of art, and Laurenn York, assistant professor of English, congratulate students for their creativity and collaboration as writers and designers. The exhibit will remain open for viewing through Jan. 17, offering an opportunity to witness the power of collaboration and the meaningful work of these talented students.
