We are excited to announce our Fall 2024 Faculty Development Schedule, which consists of a variety of face-to-face and virtual sessions in the following topics: accessibility, active learning, AI, Canvas, DEIJ, H5P, innovation, and student success. As part of this semester’s lineup, we are also launching a new faculty book club led by Becky Miller, AIeL faculty liaison and professor of psychology. All participants will receive a free copy of “Small Teaching: Everyday Lessons from the Science of Learning,” by James M. Lang.
Registration for individual workshops is available on the portal, along with a detailed printable schedule and a one-page at-a-glance schedule. We encourage you to register in advance if possible, so that we can plan accordingly.
If you have any questions about the fall schedule, or you have any ideas or proposals for a future faculty development workshop, please email John Freml at 217-786-4669.

Did you happen to catch LLCC culinary educators out and about this summer? Channing Fullaway-Johnson, culinary coordinator, community education, had a busy summer sharing recipes and information on LLCC’s culinary programs and events.
She kicked off the summer in May participating in the opening day ribbon cutting at the Farmer’s Market handing out samples of her spring quinoa and asparagus salad. In June she visited the Sertoma Club for a presentation of LLCC’s Culinary Department and Community Education. In July, she presented to the Springfield Garden Club and did knife skills and chef demonstrations at the Motherland Gardens Community Project. In August she judged dietary desserts at the Illinois State Fair and judged an LLCC-sponsored event of charcuterie boards.
Watch for Channing’s recipes for quinoa salad, Asian salad and corn salad, in LincIn in the coming weeks.
On Friday, Sept. 6, five of our LLCC music students with a concentration in voice — Miriam Carter, Aleah Cross, Alana Hamilton, Rayel Tasker and Hunter Woods — will be presenting solo performances as part of the Cathedral of Immaculate Conception’s “First Friday Concert Series.” The concert starts at 7 p.m. The song selection will consist of some classical and musical theatre repertoire, ranging from Schubert and Debussy to selections from musicals such as “Anastasia” and “Catch Me if You Can.” The concert is free of charge.
The LLCC Human Resources office is advertising for a program assistant, aviation. Full details on this and all other open positions can be viewed on the HR employment page.
