Students of Professor Pam Bradley’s hybrid nursing class participated Wednesday, Oct. 2 in a disaster simulation held at the Illinois Air National Guard facilities as members of the Red Cross response team. Some students worked at the simulation site, assessing injuries and prescribing treatment, while others treated those with minor wounds at an off-site triage center set up at the local Salvation Army.

It’s hard to know where to begin, so I will start from the bottom of my heart. A sincere thank you to everybody for their expressions of sympathy to me and my family over the death of my brother, Jerry Melton. It was a very difficult situation for his immediate family, mother, siblings, friends, colleagues, and students. Whether you sent a card or email, stopped me in the hallway to say a kind word, attended the memorial service, sent a flower, plant, or remembrance, or offered up a quiet thought or prayer … I want you all to know how much your thoughtfulness is appreciated. Julie Rourke, director of workforce development, made a presentation at the Faith Coalition for the Common Good’s Jobs Summit and Workers Rights event Sept. 28. She spoke, along with Frank McNeil and Janice Gower, on LLCC and IDOT: Highway Construction Careers and the IDOT/LLCC Pre-Apprentice training program.
