Join your colleagues at the annual Holiday Party Thursday, Dec. 18 from 2-4 p.m. in the 
Student Union, Menard Hall. The event includes food, entertainment by music faculty Jane Hartman and Jason Waddell and a “holiday attire” contest.
Pull out the sweaters, ties, Santa suits, or other holiday attire for the contest. Two prizes will be awarded–one for the “most festive” and one for the “most unique.” Judging will take place at 3 p.m., with Dr. Warren serving as the contest judge.
The Student Life Office invites you to participate in Club & Vendor Day on Tuesday, Jan. 13 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the A. Lincoln Commons. Club & Vendor Day features vendor booths, information regarding student clubs and campus services.

Unlike the fall event, this event is not solely for clubs and will consist of outside vendors along with information on campus services. Forms are due by Wednesday, Jan. 7. The deadline to submit deposits to the Finance Department is Thursday, Dec. 18 before noon. As a reminder, if you’ve taken in funds, it is necessary to submit them and corresponding deposit slips to the Finance Department on a daily basis.

The Admission, Records and Registration staff is still collecting donations for Karla Martin, program records specialist and 2014 Outstanding LLCC Graduate, who was the victim of a devastating fire several weeks ago. She and her children lost beds, Christmas presents, food and clothing, and were displaced from their home. Grocery cards, gift cards or monetary contributions may be dropped off to Shawn Allen, Shanda Byer or Susan Mendenhall.
Chris McDonald, Ph.D., professor, political science, presented an hour-
long lecture Dec. 13 at the Illinois National Guard Museum for the 100th Anniversary of the “Christmas truce.” Several of the reenactors are current LLCC students.
LLCC-J Traveling Theatre performed HO! HO! SNOW! Saturday and Sunday to 
the delight of 200 children and adults in attendance. Non-perishable food items were collected and donated to the local food pantry.
In an effort to help avoid any inconveniences during the Winter Recess this year, Facilities Services would like to remind all LLCC faculty and staff that the college will be officially closed, as posted on the academic calendar, from Saturday, Dec. 20-Monday, Jan. 4.
During times when the college is closed, building conditions are not maintained at usual levels. Temperatures are lowered, lighting levels are at a minimum, and access to buildings could be restricted. Snow and ice removal is also kept to a necessary minimum.
We have scheduled several projects during Winter Recess, outside of the normal schedule, to keep disruption to a minimum. Carpet will be replaced in the first floor hallway of Menard Hall, from the southeast entrance to the Vice Presidents’ offices, as well as in the connecting corridor between Human Resources and the Finance Office. Access to these areas will be limited. We will be refinishing the floor in Cass Gym and it will be inaccessible as well. We also have scheduled a power outage for parts of Menard Hall so that we may safely install a new electrical service.
We encourage anyone needing to visit the college over Winter Recess to check in with the LLCC Police Dept. by calling 622-3853.

Today is the nomination deadline for KUDOS and NISOD awards. Nominate a deserving colleague for the KUDOS award by clicking on the KUDOS tab in the upper right corner of LincIn or on the KUDOS graphic in this article.
The KUDOS award is an informal way to recognize the small and large ways 
our faculty and staff contribute to the positive environment that is LLCC. Brighten someone’s day and say “thank you, great job!” with the KUDOS award.
Students, staff, and faculty may submit faculty nominations tor the NISOD award. Nominations (NISOD Excellence Award 2015 Nomination Form) should be sent to Leslie Rios, chair of the Faculty Development and Recognition Committee of the Faculty Senate, either via email (Leslie.Rios@llcc.edu) or paper.
LLCC’s online learning program has added eight new online degree programs and two new online certificate programs.
LLCC online students can now complete associate in arts degrees in early childhood education, human geography, physical geography, psychology, speech communication, and women’s and gender studies; an associate in science degree in geology; and an associate in applied science degree in applied computer programming. New certificate of completion programs are in computer programming database and emergency medical technician.
“We’re excited to continue to grow our online program by adding these new options for students,” said Becky Parton, associate dean of instructional technology and distance education. “LLCC now offers nearly 50 programs leading to a degree or certificate that can be earned online, which is a convenient option for many working adults.”
Parton stressed the advantages of LLCC online. “LLCC online courses are affordable; our faculty are well-trained, local and accessible; and we have outstanding support services for online students. LLCC online courses transfer to other colleges and universities just as our traditional LLCC courses do.”
While many LLCC students complete their education entirely online, many more create customized schedules utilizing both online and face-to-face courses, in a manner that best suits their busy lives.
