Annual Holiday Party Thursday, 2-4 p.m., Student Union

Layout 1Plan to attend the annual Holiday Party Thursday, Dec. 18 from 2-4 p.m. in the Student Union, Menard Hall. Enjoy food, socializing with colleagues and entertainment by music faculty Jane Hartman and Jason Waddell.

Faculty and staff are also invited to participate in this year’s “holiday attire” contest. Pull out the sweaters, ties, Santa suits, or other holiday attire. Two prizes will be awarded–one for the “most festive” and one for the “most unique.” Judging will take place at 3 p.m., with Dr. Warren serving as the contest judge.

Important message from LLCC Police

As most already know, yesterday morning at approximately 10:15 a.m., the General Closing message came across our main campus Emergency Notification System. The broadcast message in question was sent inadvertently while college personnel were performing upgrades to one of the components of our system. We immediately sent emails and used the LLCC Connect emergency messaging system to let our community know what had happened. Please note that we do not conduct unannounced tests or emergency drills at LLCC, and we apologize for any inconvenience this technical problem may have caused our students or staff.

LLCC-Litchfield hosts Live Line demonstration event

LLCC-Litchfield, U of I Extension, Ameren, MJM Cooperative, and Rural Electric Cooperative sponsored a “Live Line” demonstration Dec. 5. Fifth grade students from Raymond, Litchfield, Staunton and Mt. Olive schools gathered in the LLCC-Litchfield Charles M. Long Auditorium to find out about electricity safety. The event was featured with an article and photo in The Hillsboro Journal-News.

Minutes from recent Team meetings posted

Minutes have been posted from the October Cultural Awareness Team meeting, at which recent cultural events on campus were discussed, as well as ideas to make the Student Union a more inviting space to hold events in. Read more about this and other topics discussed in the full minutes.

KUDOS awards to be announced next week; nomination deadline Dec. 15

The next KUDOS award recipients will be announced next week. Nominate a deserving colleague by clicking on the KUDOS tab in the upper right corner of LincIn. Nomination deadline is Monday, Dec. 15.

The KUDOS award is an informal way to recognize the small and large ways Kudos logoour faculty and staff contribute to the positive environment that is LLCC. The person you nominate will receive a KUDOS certificate, with winners announced in LincIn, along with what they did to deserve the award. You can make an anonymous nomination if you wish. Brighten someone’s day and say “thank you, great job!” with the KUDOS award.
