The deadline to submit deposits to the Finance Department is Thursday, Jan. 29. As a reminder, if you’ve taken in funds, it is necessary to submit them and corresponding deposit slips to the Finance Department on a daily basis.

Bistro Verde opens Jan. 29; menu announced

Bistro Verde opens for lunch service Thursday, Jan. 29!  View the menu: Bistro Menu Jan. 29. Reservations are required; email bistroverde@llcc.edu, call 786-2821, or stop by the café during business hours.

LLCC’s student-run café is open for lunch this semester on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11 a.m.–1 p.m. Bistro Verde will operate as a casual bistro from Thursday, Jan. 29–Tuesday, March 3, and will then offer fine dining Thursday, March 26–Tuesday, April 21.

 

Lactation room now available on campus

A private lactation room is now available on campus for nursing mothers. It is located in Millennium Center, room 1121. Employees wishing to use the lactation room should contact the Human Resources office for a code to open the door. Students should check with Student Life for the code.

Congratulations, Aaron Berkowitz!

History Professor Aaron Berkowitz, Ph.D., and wife Meleah are Sadie Berkowitzparents of a baby girl, Sadie Elizabeth Berkowitz, born Jan. 21. She weighed 7 lbs. 13 oz and was 21 inches long. Aaron reports that baby and mommy are doing great!

LLCC-Jacksonville hears presentations on suicide prevention

Passavant Hospital’s Pravesh Basnet, doctor of psychiatry, and William Loveland, therapist, provided presentations on suicide Suicide Prevention 1prevention for members of the community, students, faculty and staff at LLCC-Jacksonville.

LLCC-J operations analyst Maryjane Million was interviewed by WICS following the presentation.

Tobacco Cessation: Commit to Quit 2015!

As LLCC goes smoke free July 1 per the Smoke-Free Campus Act (Public Act 098-0985), the American Lung Association is providing two presentations about tobacco cessation. Presentations are being held Friday, Jan. 23 and Monday, Feb. 9 from 11 a.m.-noon in the R. H. Stephens Room. The presentations will focus on tobacco cessation and provide an overview of the Illinois Tobacco Quitline and their services for LLCC students, staff and faculty. Snacks will be provided.
