Free lunch offered in Bistro Verde today!

The Value-Added Local Food program through the Workforce Development division is training food service managers for the Springfield Public School District this week. Free lunch is being served for the campus community in Bistro Verde, WFCC 1103, at 11:45 a.m. again today on a first-come, first-served basis; no reservations accepted. The menu changes daily. Professor catches up with former student, now MLB writer

BrendaBrenda Protz, professor, communication, caught up with former Lamp sports writer Jason Farmer last week at Busch Stadium. Jason pursued his goal of becoming a MLB writer and now covers the Cardinals. He’s currently editor of his own online publication the Mid America Sports Report. He also has credentials to cover the Oakland A’s in California.

 

ALL holds kickoff event today in Trutter Center

The LLCC Academy of Lifelong Learning (ALL) will hold its annual kickoff event this morning in the Trutter Center.  Doors open at 9:30 a.m. and refreshments will be provided. The public is invited, including anyone interested in becoming a member. Visitors are encouraged to gather information on the many opportunities and activities open to ALL members. The Membership Committee will be on hand to sign up new members, take renewals and answer membership questions. Leaders of various interest groups within ALL will have displays with details on upcoming activities for this year.

FY ’16 Sick Bank Open Enrollment begins today!

The staff sick bank committee recently met to discuss the upcoming year.  During this meeting it was decided that no changes would be made to the current operational guidelines.  It was also determined that this year would be a free year for current members.  Please review the attached enrollment form and operational guidelines for more information.  Enrollment ends Friday, August 14!

Next KUDOS awards to be announced Aug. 4; deadline Thursday for nominations

The next KUDOS award recipients will be announced Aug. 4. Nominate a deserving colleague by clicking on the KUDOS image below or the KUDOS tab in the upper right corner of LincIn. Deadline for nominations is July 30.

The KUDOS award is an informal way to recognize the small and large ways Kudos logoour faculty and staff contribute to the positive environment that is LLCC. The person you nominate will receive a KUDOS certificate, with winners announced in LincIn, along with what they did to deserve the award. A nominator has the option for his/her name to be published or to remain anonymous in any LLCC correspondence. However, nominations must include the nominator’s name for the nominee to be recognized. Brighten someone’s day and say “thank you, great job!” with the KUDOS award.

Jamie Stout, director of community education, was interviewed on FOX-55’s Good Day Illinois yesterday on the Academy of Lifelong Learning’s kickoff event this Thursday, 9:30 a.m. in the Trutter Center.

Nancy Sweet, culinary operations manager, appeared on FOX-55’s Good Day Illinois this morning for “Tasty Tuesday,” preparing Grilled Shrimp and Chorizo Skewers with Orzo Salad and Pork Skewers w Romesco YUM!
