Road construction update and traffic delay alert
The Toronto Road resurfacing project near the Springfield campus is continuing through the weekend. Crews hope to have the work completed by this Saturday evening. However, there may still be some traffic delays through early next week. We encourage you to allow extra time to reach the LLCC campus until construction on Toronto Road is completed.
Other road construction that may affect your commute to LLCC: There will be lane closures on I-55 from milepost 89 (one mile south of Toronto Road) to milepost 77 (approx. 5 miles north of the Farmersville exit) for a resurfacing project beginning Monday, Aug. 24. The project is anticipated to run until Oct. 9.
And, the Union Pacific RR Crossing on IL Route 29 will be closed from Aug. 24-Oct. 24 for the high speed rail project.
Students needed as New Student Orientation leaders
Retention and Student Success is looking for energetic and driven students to serve as New Student Orientation leaders. Open interviews are being held Friday, Sept. 4 from 1-4:30 p.m. in Menard Hall, room 1150 (across from registration). New Student Orientations leaders assist with orientations, conduct tours, support and welcome new students. If you know a student who would make a good orientation leader, encourage them to apply. Reminder: Convocation tomorrow in Cass Gym
Plan to attend Convocation tomorrow. The event is being held in Cass Gym. Breakfast runs 8:30-9 a.m. Beginning at 9 a.m., Drs. Tricia Kujawa and Chris McDonald will present “The AQIP Pathway,” followed by remarks from Dr. Charlotte Warren, president.
Reminder: Fire sprinkler system testing today in WCC
A reminder that Facilities Services is testing the fire sprinkler system at the Workforce Careers Center TODAY. During testing it will be necessary to sound the fire alarm system. Disruptions will be kept to a minimum.

Toronto Road resurfacing project completion date is Aug. 28
According to Truman Flatt, the Toronto Road resurfacing project contractor, the entire Toronto Road & 11th Street project is now scheduled to be complete on Aug. 28. The contractor president said they would do their best to minimize the impact on traffic next week during the first week of classes. Faculty, staff and students should prepare for traffic delays if traveling to campus via Toronto Road.
