Dental insurance cards are now available for pick up in the Human Resources Office. You may recall from my earlier email that the printed cards are secure cards, with no personal participant information printed on them, such as name and ID numbers. For a personalized dental insurance card for you and your dependents, if covered, please register online at www.mycigna.com to download. Once registered, smartphone users can download the My Cigna app and access their dental card information via the app to provide to their dentist office.
Please contact Nicole Ralph (6.2342) in HR if you have any questions.

Today (July 15, 2015) marks the 50th anniversary of the signing of the Illinois Public Community College Act. Fifty years later, the Illinois community college system is the state’s largest provider of higher education, serving nearly one million students each year.
A coalition of community college groups (including the Illinois Community College Board, the ICCB Student Advisory Committee, the Illinois Community College Trustees Association, the Illinois Council of Community College Presidents, the Illinois Council of Community College Administrators, the Illinois Community College Faculty Association, and the National Council on Marketing and Public Relations) has been formed to coordinate 50th anniversary events throughout the system.
To kick off our yearlong observance, the coalition is pleased to unveil our new 50th Anniversary logo, designed by Christina Diaz of Carl Sandburg College.
Watch for information about other upcoming 50th anniversary events, including:
• Announcement of the official gubernatorial proclamation declaring 2015-2016 as “The Year of the Community College” in Illinois
• A Mid-August 2015 news conference with Gov. Bruce Rauner
• National Community College Month in April 2016
• Anniversary celebrations at coalition member meetings/conferences
Happy 50th anniversary, Illinois community colleges, you are one million strong!
Beginning with the 07/15/15 payroll, all SURS participating employees will see an amount on their pay advice or check stub which is designated as “BALANCE”. This is directly below the SURS contribution. This balance indicates the remaining amount that can be contributed to SURS for the current fiscal year. Each pay period this amount will decrease as the year to date contributions increase. The limits will be reset each July with the new fiscal year.
This “BALANCE” information is new to those people who are part of the Traditional–Tier 1 program with SURS. Those employees who are part of the Traditional–Tier 2 or the Self-Managed Plan have had this information on their pay advices for the past year. It is important to note that some individuals may not see the “BALANCE” designation on their pay advice because of the limited number of lines available to display benefits and deductions.
Please let me know if you have any questions regarding your pay advice. Any questions regarding your SURS contributions or SURS status should be directed to Human Resources.
