14th annual Banned Books Readings Oct. 2
The LLCC 14th annual Banned Books Readings will be held Friday, Oct. 2, from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. in A. Lincoln Commons on the LLCC-Springfield campus.
LLCC students, faculty and staff will read from various books that were banned at some time. The public is invited to attend.
The event is held in observance of Banned Books Week, held nationally to celebrate the freedom to read and free and open access to information.

Tickets now available for LLCC Theatre’s “Your Swash is Unbuckled” Nov. 11-13 at Hoogland
LLCC Theatre will present “Your Swash Is Unbuckled” by Jeff Goode, a collection of short, humorous plays featuring swashbuckling, sword-swinging action, on Nov. 11, 12 and 13. Curtain time is 8 p.m. in the Hoogland Center for the Arts Theatre III.
Three of the plays are world-premieres, authored by Goode just for LLCC Theatre under the direction of Mark Hardiman, LLCC professor of theatre. Read more here.
Eat at Bob Evans and help raise $$ for an LLCC Foundation scholarship fund
The LLCC Foundation will be the beneficiary of a scholarship fundraiser by the Springfield Civic Garden Club on Oct. 2, 3, 4 and 5. For all those eating at a Bob Evans restaurant in Springfield (4221 Conestoga Dr., near Meijer and 3050 Stevenson Dr.) on those dates, Bob Evans will donate cash for 15 percent of all food orders, including eat-in or carryout, to the LLCC/SCGC scholarship fund. You will need to print a copy of this flier, BobEvansFlyer2015, for each guest check. All are welcome to participate, but MUST take a copy of the flier to the restaurant and present it at the time of check-out. The scholarship is open to LLCC students in the horticulture, landscape design, turf management and environmental-related programs.

Get a free flu shot and a $50 VISA card for participating in the annual Wellness Screening
There are plenty of appointments still available for the annual wellness screening and flu shot clinic for all benefit-eligible employees to be offered on Tuesday, Oct. 13 from 7 to 11:30 a.m. in the Robert H. Stephens Room, Menard Hall. See the detailed wellness screening guide 2015 LLCC Wellness Screening Guide with specific information on how to register for the screening. If you are not available Oct. 13 to participate in an on-site screening, there are limited options available. We are unable to offer a makeup date this year. Remote screening through a LabCorp facility is still an option. Unfortunately, the only facility in a 50-mile radius of the main campus is in Decatur, IL. Refer to the attached guide for more information.
All employees and their spouses who are currently enrolled in a LLCC health insurance plan will receive the basic screening FREE OF CHARGE as well as receive a free flu shot! Sign up early to get the appointment of your choice. If a time you are looking for isn’t available when you register, complete your registration and come back to the website at a later date to see if any time slots become available.
Each employee who participates in the wellness screening will also receive a $50 VISA gift card…just for participating!

A limited number of print versions are available in the Public Relations and Marketing office. Anyone mentioned or photographed in the publication was sent a print copy.
A-Team meets today at noon
The A-Team will meet today from noon-1 p.m. in the R.H. Stephens Room, Menard Hall. The A-Team, or autism awareness and support group, is an informal group of students, faculty and staff who are interested in talking and learning about the challenges and successes of students with autism spectrum disorders.
