Know a high school student interested in cooking or baking?

The LLCC Culinary Institute still has openings for an upcoming class for high school-aged students interested in cooking and baking. High School Chefs will be held Monday-Thursday, June 20-23, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the state-of-the-art baking and food labs of the LLCC Workforce Careers Center.

Students will experiment with simple yet sophisticated menus and learn the basics of knife skills, sanitation, cooking and baking. Students are sent home with their delicious, handmade culinary creations every day.

The class is open to anyone ages 13-18. Cost is $195 for materials and instruction by LLCC culinary staff.

Campus Visit Day Tuesday evening

Please help us spread the word that summer Campus Visit Day is Tuesday, June 14 from 5-7:30 p.m. If you know of  students interested in attending LLCC this fall or in the future, please encourage them to attend. Health/dental insurance enrollment ends tomorrow; Allied reps will answer questions today, 1-3 p.m.

Allied representatives will be on campus Wednesday, June 8 from 1-3 p.m. in the Human Resources Conference Room to answer questions.

Health and dental insurance open enrollment ends Thursday, June 9. Enrollments will not be accepted after June 9.  Please print these Online Enrollment Instructions and go to www.alliedbenefit.com to complete your enrollment.  You are required to complete the enrollment if you plan to do any of the following:

  • Decline health and/or dental insurance
  • Contribute to a medical and/or dependent care flexible spending account
  • Change health insurance plans
  • Add or drop dependents

 

If you are not changing plans, dependents or contributing to a flexible spending account, you do not need to complete an enrollment.  Your current plan will roll into the new plan year.

If you have questions about plans, claims, flexible spending accounts, network providers, health savings accounts, etc., you may stop by HR anytime between 1 and 3 p.m. Wednesday to speak with an Allied representative.  This session will be open house style.

Nicole Ralph in HR will also meet with employees to answer questions.

ICCTA honors Cinda Edwards and Dr. Charlotte Warren

Cinda Edwards, a graduate of Lincoln Land Community College who rose to chair the LLCC Board of Trustees, along with Dr. Charlotte Warren, LLCC president, were honored by the Illinois Community College Trustees Association at its annual convention June 3.

Edwards, the current Sangamon County Coroner, received the statewide Distinguished Alumnus Award which recognizes the professional, technical and humanitarian accomplishments of individuals who have graduated from Illinois community colleges. Dr. Warren received the Advocacy Award, Trustee Education Award and an appreciation award for her service as chair of the Illinois Community College Presidents Council.

Congratulations to Janice Lovekamp!

Lovekamp JaniceJanice Lovekamp, program director of surgical technology, was awarded the designation of Fellow of the Association of Surgical Technologists (F.A.S.T.) at the AST National Convention on June 2.  The F.A.S.T. designation is awarded to recognize those individuals who have upheld the highest professional, ethical and moral standards and traditions of the surgical technology profession, and whose professional activity has been devoted to the advancement of the profession toward improving the quality of surgical patient care.

President Charlotte Warren honored

Dr. Charlotte Warren, president, was recently honored with a Trustee Education Award from the Illinois Community College Trustees Association, in recognition of outstanding achievement in the area of professional development. Dr. Warren also received a plaque in recognition of outstanding leadership as president of the Illinois Council of Community College Presidents, 2015-2016. Congratulations!
