THANKS TO ALL WHO ASSISTED WITH REG PREP EVENTS
LLCC Recruitment and Admission thanks all who helped with spring Reg Prep events in which area high school seniors who will be attending LLCC came to campus to learn more about the college, available services and meet with student success coaches. This year we were able to host over 200 students from 14 area high schools.
The successful events could not have happened without the help and support of many different departments! LLCC Open House, Tuesday, June 18
Prospective students interested in starting or restarting college or training for a new career are invited to visit LLCC for an open house on Tuesday, June 18, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The free event will be held at LLCC’s Springfield campus and at Outreach Centers in Jacksonville, Litchfield and Taylorville.
“Start here at LLCC, whether you are looking to earn a degree, train for a hands-on career or add new skills,” says LLCC President Charlotte Warren, Ph.D. “Join us at our summer open house to explore majors, our low cost and personalized services that help students reach their goals.”
Visitors can check in at the event information tent and then follow signs to various areas on campus including LLCC Health Professions, Workforce Institute and Kreher Agriculture Center, where they can speak with faculty and staff, view exhibits. learn how to enroll and pay for college, and apply for admission. The event will also feature an outdoor cookout, DJ and student life activities.

LLCC-Litchfield, Montgomery County Career Day
LLCC-Litchfield welcomed nearly 300 high school juniors from Hillsboro, Lincolnwood, Litchfield, Mt. Olive and Nokomis High Schools last Friday, May 3 at their Montgomery County Career Day event. Students heard from community members about jobs in Montgomery County and surrounding areas. Sessions included nursing/pre-med, communications, undecided?, health professions, business/finance, education, law enforcement/criminal justice/emergency services, IT, and workforce programs. A special thank you to the following LLCC employees for presenting and/or promoting LLCC programs: Luis Alarcon, Lori Badgley, Liz Bland, Josh Collins, Chris Edmondson, Jeff Gardener, Jordan Harling, Doug Hoy, Dana Klockenga, Jeff Martin, Karina Moore, Hanna O’Brien, Mike Readenour, Curt Robinson, Aiden Tierney, Tara Walk and Marina Wirsing.
BSU Fest 2024
More than 60 students from District 186 attended the second annual BSU Fest last Friday. Organizers planned a day of activities: games, an LLCC student/staff panel, informational workshops, lunch and a hands-on experience with LLCC nursing.
LLCC Transfer Night Partnership
Wednesday night, LLCC partnered with the University of Illinois System and District 186 for a transfer exploration night. There were 25 attendees at the event. Thank you to Dr. Amanda Turner, director of student success, for participating in the panel discussion moderated by Mackenzie Bryant, recruitment specialist. Special thanks to Jeff Martin, workforce recruitment coordinator, and LLCC Facilities for their assistance with the event. Lisa Clanton, student success coach, also came to lend her support.
LLCC hosts transfer exploration night tonight
LLCC and the University of Illinois System are partnering with District 186 for a transfer exploration night tonight from 5:30-7:30 p.m. in the Student Union. Students from District 186 will have the opportunity to hear from LLCC and each of the U of I institutions. They’ll learn about the ease of attending LLCC and ability to transfer to one of the U of I campuses. Recruiters from all four institutions will be on hand. The evening includes a panel discussion featuring our own Dr. Amanda Turner, director of student success. Students will end the evening with an opportunity to speak with LLCC staff about next steps. LLCC Recruitment and Admissions welcomes Diana Hobrock who began work on Feb. 26 as an admissions specialist. Diana has a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Illinois at Springfield. Prior to coming to LLCC, Diana served as a file analyst and coordinator of nonstandard testing for the Illinois Board of Admissions to the Bar.
