BSU BAKE SALE TODAY
Stop by the LLCC Black Student Union’s bake sale today, Nov. 14, to support their scholarship fund! Members will be in A. Lincoln Commons from 10 a.m. to noon, or until sold out. Don’t miss these delicious treats!
BSU Jeans Day Success
On behalf of LLCC’s Black Student Union, we want to thank everyone who donated towards “BSU Jeans Day.” We raised $425 for our BSU Scholarship! Thank you again.
BSU to sponsor Jeans Day Nov. 6
LLCC’s Black Student Union is sponsoring a Jeans Day on Wednesday, Nov. 6 to raise funds for their scholarship. Each year a student will be awarded funds to help with tuition, fees and books.
Faculty and staff can wear jeans with a minimum donation of $5 to be paid in LLCC Student Life (lower level, Menard Hall). A sticker to wear on Jeans Day will be given to those who donate.
BSU Breast Cancer Awareness event today
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. LLCC’s Black Student Union would like for you to join them on Oct. 29 in the Student Union from noon until 2 p.m. for the “Paint in Pink” event. LLCC’s own Dr. Leigh Giles-Brown will speak on life after breast cancer. Dr. Giles-Brown was featured on Oct. 1 on WICS to begin Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Then join us for a paint event to create a breast cancer canvas in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Each participant will receive a breast cancer goodie bag with information provided by Sangamon County Health Department and Sarah Price with Temple Elks.

Kim Wilson, recruitment specialist, Lisa Clanton, student success coach and Braden Nicoll, LLCC student trustee were interviewed by WTAX on the Juneteenth Freedom Walk. The Juneteenth Freedom Walk was also covered by the Springfield State Journal-Register. Kim Wilson was interviewed by WICS regarding Juneteenth activities.

Dee Krueger, director, LLCC-Taylorville, was interviewed by WTIM Monday, June 17, about Juneteenth activities, registration for fall classes and LLCC’s upcoming summer open house event for prospective students interested in starting or restarting college or training for a new career.
Members of LLCC’s Black Student Union participated in Springfield’s annual Juneteenth Unity Parade on Saturday. Read about the parade on WMAY.
BSU Fest 2024
More than 60 students from District 186 attended the second annual BSU Fest last Friday. Organizers planned a day of activities: games, an LLCC student/staff panel, informational workshops, lunch and a hands-on experience with LLCC nursing.
