The KUDOS awards are an informal way to recognize the special contributions — small and large — made by faculty and staff that create the positive environment that is LLCC. Brighten someone’s day. Say, “Thank you! Great job!” by nominating that person for a KUDOS award!

National Scholarship Month

November is National Scholarship Month, and LLCC is here to help with information about applying for free money to pay for college! In the video below, Michelle Burger, scholarship program and alumni services coordinator, and Noah Riedle, LLCC student, share information about LLCC Foundation scholarships. Students applying for college scholarships, along with parents, guardians and family members, can learn more by attending the last Scholarships 101 presentation today at 3 p.m. Registration is available at https://forms.gle/nxe7PHhm4uhLLtf26.

Virtual Veterans Day Ceremony

LLCC’s 25th annual Veterans Day Ceremony premiered yesterday on the college’s YouTube channel and Facebook page. If you were unable to watch it then, it is still available for viewing.

The program includes Wayne Rosenthal, LLCC Board of Trustees Chair and retired Brigadier General, Illinois Air National Guard, serving as master of ceremonies; LLCC student Derek Myers, senior airman, U.S. Air Force inactive reserves, providing remarks; LLCC Student Trustee Julian Marvel reading a poem; and LLCC students Emma Bachman singing the national anthem and Sierra Eigenmann playing “Taps.”

The ceremony honors all veterans including LLCC faculty, staff and students who served in the armed forces.

LLCC offers free Scholarships 101 presentations starting today

Help for students applying for college scholarships

The LLCC Foundation will sponsor virtual events beginning today, Nov. 10, to assist students applying for college scholarships. Parents, guardians and family members are also welcome to attend.

“Scholarships 101 will help individuals prepare for the upcoming scholarship application season by providing a general overview of applying for scholarships, how to select and ask your scholarship references for a recommendation, as well guidance on writing the personal essay for scholarship applications,” said Michelle Burger, scholarship program coordinator. She explained that the information presented will be relevant to applying for scholarships at any college or university.

Scholarships 101 will take place via Zoom on these dates and times:

  • Nov. 10, 5 p.m.
  • Nov. 11, 5 p.m.
  • Nov. 17, 5 p.m.
  • Nov. 19, 3 p.m.

Registration for Scholarships 101 is available at https://bit.ly/3klv8HC. Information on how to join the Zoom meeting will be sent after registration.

The application period for LLCC Foundation scholarships for the 2021-2022 academic year opens Dec. 1, 2020 and continues through March 1, 2021. Last year, the LLCC Foundation awarded over 230 scholarships totaling more than $366,000.

Campus Cruise

The LLCC Campus Cruise was held Wednesday. Approximately 45 guests came out to tour campus from their vehicles and learn about all the exciting programs LLCC has to offer. Participants had the opportunity to see campus, learn about the programs and services available, and get fun LLCC swag and treats!
