FAFSA Workshop Day for LLCC students Oct. 26

FAFSAPlease spread the word that LLCC students have the opportunity to begin, work on or complete their 2023-2024 FAFSA application. LLCC Financial Aid, in partnership with the LLCC Student Life and Student Government Association, is hosting a FAFSA Workshop Day on Wednesday, Oct. 26, 10 a.m. to noon in Menard Hall Atrium. Staff from the Financial Aid will be on hand to answer student questions and guide them through the process.

Students who cannot make this event are more than welcome to reach out to the Financial Aid directly by emailing Financial.Aid@llcc.edu, calling 217-786-2237 or texting 217-920-1096.

Faculty and staff with experience with the FAFSA application are more than welcome to help with this event. Questions on this event and how to become involved can be emailed to the the director of financial aid, alison.mills@llcc.edu.

FAFSA Completion Nights

FAFSALLCC Financial Aid held a FAFSA Completion Night event at Southeast High School on Oct. 4. Thirty-five students and 47 parents were in attendance. Students were also given information about Campus Visit Day and encouraged to visit LLCC at the Capital Area Education Fair on the state fairgrounds.

  • LLCC-Jacksonville – Oct. 12, Nov. 16 and Dec. 7, 3-7 p.m.
  • LLCC-Taylorville – Oct. 20, 3-6 p.m.
  • Lanphier High School – Oct. 25, 5:30 p.m.
  • Springfield High School – Oct. 26, 5:30 p.m.

LLCC-Taylorville to host financial aid event Oct. 20

LLCC-Taylorville, 800 S. Spresser, will host Financial Aid Completion Night Thursday, Oct. 20 from 3-6 p.m. to assist high school seniors and their parents/guardians in completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

An online registration form and more information on documents to bring to the event are available at www.llcc.edu/taylorville. Registration is also available by calling 217-786-2754.

Current LLCC students who will be attending college next year are invited to attend as well. Prospective students may take a tour of the facilities and get assistance with enrollment steps.

Kenzie ChalifouxKenzie Chalifoux has joined LLCC as financial aid advisor and communication specialist. She previously worked in the financial aid office at Lincoln College. She earned a bachelor’s degree in sports management from Lincoln College and is pursuing a master’s degree in leadership and organizational development from Lakeland University in Wisconsin. Help connect students with money for 2022-2023 LLCC classes! Encourage them to visit Michelle Burger, scholarship program coordinator, and Andrea DeRosa, financial aid advisor, today, Feb. 16, 10:30 a.m.-1 p.m. and 3:30-5:30 p.m. in the Workforce Careers Center lobby.

They can learn more about LLCC Foundation scholarships and FAFSA completion, start applications and ask questions about  the completion of current scholarship or FAFSA applications. Resources available will include: LLCC Foundation scholarship information and reference, personal essay and FAQ resources as well as FAFSA tips and guidance.

LLCC to host Financial Aid Workshops in October

LLCC is offering workshops and completion events in October to assist students and families in filing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) in order to obtain financial aid to attend college. The FAFSA filing period is now open, and students are encouraged to apply as soon as possible.

Financial Aid Workshops will be held at these LLCC locations and high schools:

  • Oct. 5, LLCC-Beardstown, 3-6 p.m.
  • Oct. 7, Southeast High School, 6-8 p.m.
  • Oct. 13, LLCC-Litchfield, 4-8 p.m.
  • Oct. 14, Lanphier High School, 6-8 p.m.
  • Oct. 15, LLCC-Springfield campus, 11 a.m.-1 p.m. (for current LLCC students)
  • Oct. 18, LLCC-Springfield campus, 4-7 p.m.
  • Oct. 20, LLCC-Taylorville, 4-8 p.m.
  • Oct. 21, LLCC-Jacksonville, 3-7 p.m.
  • Oct. 26, Springfield High School, 6-8 p.m.

Students and parents/guardians may also get personal assistance completing the FAFSA at the LLCC-Springfield campus, Menard Hall, Room 1173:

  • Oct. 8, 10 a.m.-noon and 2-4 p.m.
  • Oct. 22, 10 a.m.-noon and 2-4 p.m.
  • Oct. 29, 10 a.m.-noon and 2-4 p.m.
