Workforce Institute Career Fair held yesterday
Construction students build tiki bar for Gala silent auction
Students in the Workforce Institute’s highway construction careers training program constructed a tiki bar under the direction of Tom Spears, workforce development program coordinator, which sold for $1,100 in the silent auction at the 16th Annual Foundation Gala. This hands-on learning opportunity raised funds in support of students and educational programs at LLCC. The Gala was also an opportunity to showcase the talents of culinary arts and hospitality students, who prepared and served the four-course gourmet meal, under the direction of Sheridan Lane, director of culinary program and operations, LLCC Choir members who performed under the direction of Laurie Lewis-Fritz, assistant professor of music, and PRM student worker Sara Waller who spoke on her experiences at LLCC and greeted guests.
All-electric vehicle part of hands-on learning in auto tech
Jeff Lancaster from Rural Electric Convenience Cooperative was on campus yesterday speaking to the AUT 217 hybrid and electric vehicle students. This is the first all-electric vehicle that has been in the auto technology lab. Students even got to ride in the Volkswagen ID4 full electric SUV.

Bistro Verde, LLCC’s student-led café, is open yet today, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., offering a full-service dining experience for the spring 2022 semester. You are invited to experience food prepared and served by LLCC culinary arts, baking and pastry, and hospitality students. View the menu.
Bistro Verde is located in the Workforce Careers Center on the southwest corner of the Springfield campus. Reservations are strongly encouraged, and can be made by emailing bistroverde@llcc.edu. Reservation confirmations will be made via email.
