LLCC Institutional Research and Effectiveness staff are available during dedicated drop-in hours weekly during the summer. Stop by MCTR 2215 on Tuesdays 8:30-9:30 a.m. Bring your questions or requests. We look forward to seeing you.

Welcome Andre Rye

Andre RyeAndre Rye, student success coach, joined LLCC June 19. He previously worked as a family and community engagement (FACE) liaison for District 186 at Springfield High School. Prior to that, he worked with students at Southeast Highschool and Springfield Urban League. Andre earned a bachelor’s degree in business and economics from Benedictine University.

Summer blood drive: Register now!

ImpactLife is the provider of blood products to both Memorial Hospital and HSHS St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.

Donating will be convenient during the blood drive on Wednesday, July 19 in A. Lincoln Commons. Please go online to schedule an appointment between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m.

All donors will receive a voucher for an electronic gift card or reward points to be redeemed in the ImpactLife Loyalty Store.

LLCC Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society recognized at regional conference

LLCC’s Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society received chapter and individual recognitions at the PTK Regional Conference and Honors Institute Convention at Parkland College in Champaign June 2-4.

The chapter was honored as a Gold Star Chapter for maintaining their Five Star Chapter status, the highest level of achievement a chapter can earn, for the 10th year in a row. The chapter also received an Honors in Action Project Award and an Outstanding Chapter Award. Joey Gallo of Jacksonville, previous chapter president and recent LLCC graduate, received an Outstanding Chapter Officer Award. Isaac Barrett of Sherman, current chapter president, was sworn in as the Illinois region central vice president for the upcoming year.

LLCC officers in attendance included: Barrett, Lexie Ebersohl of Petersburg, Kevin Ehorn of Chatham, Alex Maher of Auburn and Courtney Todd of Southern View. During the conference, they learned more about their Honors in Action projects, enhanced leadership skills and networked with other chapters.

LLCC’s Phi Theta Kappa chapter is advised by Dr. Gillian Bauer, professor of English. The honor society is open to LLCC full-time students who maintain a 3.5 grade point average or above.

Phi Theta Kappa is the foremost honor society recognizing academic excellence in two-year college students. Its goals include promoting scholarship, leadership, fellowship and service. Benefits of membership include access to Phi Theta Kappa scholarships.

Phone system transition to MS Teams

Skype for Business to Microsoft Teams LogoLLCC is transitioning its phone system from Skype for Business to Microsoft Teams! This means that external phone calls will be made and received using Teams. This change will enhance our communication capabilities by offering integrated messaging, video conferencing and advanced phone system functionalities in one system. IT will facilitate a seamless transition, reaching out to each department individually. As part of this transition, SNOM phones will be replaced with Yealink phones. Stay tuned for further updates and instructions from IT to ensure a smooth adoption of Microsoft Teams. Thank you for your cooperation and flexibility during this exciting transition!
