Beyond Conversation: An Action-Centered Approach to Diversity and Inclusion in the Classroom
Thursday,  Aug. 29, 1-2:30 p.m. in Sangamon Hall, Room 1102 or on Teams.

How can educators ensure that activities centered on diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) in the classroom are meaningful for students? It’s important that these activities don’t just check a box. Students should be provided meaningful experiences to help them develop into thoughtful citizens. This session highlights Madisonville Community College’s approach to DEI in the classroom, blended with a Student Learning Outcome process and action research. Through this process, instructors from a wide range of disciplines (i.e., general education, technical programs, health programs) have incorporated DEI into the classroom in meaningful and measurable ways.

Register online for Beyond Conversation.

Note: This workshop will begin with a viewing of a live webinar in Sangamon Hall 1102 from 1-2 p.m., followed by a discussion led by LLCC faculty from 2-3 p.m. Those who attend both parts in-person will receive 2 points. Those who attend only the discussion in-person or on Teams will be awarded 1 point.

Watch for the complete fall 2024 schedule, coming very soon.
