50th anniversary ornament now available

The 2017 City of Springfield official holiday ornament to benefit St. Joseph’s Home will this year feature Lincoln Land Community College, in honor of our 50th anniversary. The ornament was designed by Greg Walbert, graphic design manager, Public Relations and  Marketing.

The ornament is now available in the LLCC Bookstore for $25.

 

Services announced for Dave Pietrzak’s father

We extend our sympathy to Dave Pietrzak, program director, aviation, on the passing of his father, Robert Martin Pietrzak, of Havana, on  May 31. Visitation will be held at Hurley Funeral Home in Havana on Tuesday, June 6 from 5-7  p.m. A funeral mass will be held at St. Barnabas Episcopal Church in Havana at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 7. Burial will follow the services at Laurel Hill Cemetery in Havana. VFW Post #6408 and American Legion Post #138 in Havana will provide a military detail at the cemetery.

Welcome Kyla Kruse!

Kyla Kruse has joined the Public Relations and Marketing office as assistant director of public relations. She was previously communications director for the Energy Education Council, University of Illinois Extension. Congratulations to Marie Watson!

Congratulations to Marie Watson, student engagement coordinator, and her husband, Dominic, on welcoming their son, Ezekiel Pierre Watson, into the world. Ezekiel was born at 2:34 p.m. on Monday, May 30, weighing 7 lbs. and 1.5 oz., and is reportedly very excited to start classes at LLCC in the future.

Wanted: Welcome Week volunteers

The Public Relations and Marketing office is looking for volunteers to assist at the “welcome table” in A. Lincoln Commons during the first week of summer classes. Help students get a great start to the semester by providing directions, handing out student planners and answering a multitude of questions.

Final Brian McMillen Memorial Run/Walk held May 27

The 10th and final Brian McMillen Memorial Run/Walk was held May 27 with more than 500 runners, walkers and volunteers participating. The event has raised over $80,000 through the years to support the LLCC Brian McMillen Veterans Scholarship, which is now self-sustaining, along with several charities. Overall 10K winners were Emily Kuriann and Daniel O’Keefe. See the other results. State Representative Tim Butler presented a House resolution in honor of Brian and the event to Brian’s parents.
