LLCC listed in top 20 two-year colleges for precision ag

Precision ag tech in cabCongratulations to LLCC Ag for being named in PrecisionAg.com’s recently released list of the top 20 two-year colleges for precision agriculture and related fields! Results were based on a survey that factored in the best reputation in education, hands-on training and graduate job placement for precision agriculture.

“We are honored to be listed among the best programs in the country in precision agriculture,” said Bill Harmon, LLCC agriculture program coordinator. “LLCC’s precision agronomy/fertilizer program prepares students with hands-on training for a career using ever-evolving technology in the agriculture industry for yield mapping, seeding, soil testing and more. Our precision agronomy students working toward an associate in applied science degree have historically had at least three job offers prior to graduation, with similar numbers for students pursuing a certificate in fertilizer.”

PrecisionAg is an independent global media enterprise providing precision agriculture information and analysis.

Document storage guidelines

Under the Local Records Act (50 ILCS 205), the college is required to follow specific guidelines for storing and legally disposing of all records/documents that are generated or received in the course of business, including electronic records. This act establishes how long records are to be retained and an approval process for the destruction of records.

To locate retention periods, please use the Document Storage – Illinois State Archive Record Requirement documents established for the college located on the LLCC Finance SharePoint site. Once your documents have reached their legally required retention age, we can request disposal of them. The request and destruction is completed by the Budget & Fiscal Services Team, specifically Rachel Patarozzi and Robert Schuerman. This process is done on an annual basis.

Documents can be stored in our document storage building for a period of time or just prior to our request for destruction. Please use the Guidelines for Document Storage located on the Property Control/Document Storage section of the LLCC Finance SharePoint site. These guidelines are crucial for accurate record archives and destruction requests and approval so we ask that you please not deviate from this process.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact either Rachel Patarozzi (786-4646) or Robert Schuerman (786-2469).

Helping students when you have concerns or find them in crisis

Greetings from LLCC Advising, Counseling and Career Services! We hope that you are off to a great fall semester. We wanted to take this opportunity to remind you that if you have concerns about a student or find them in crisis, we encourage you to call the counselor line: 217-786-9660. This number is one that you (not to be given to students) can call Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. if you need to refer a student for crisis intervention/counseling. When you call, a counselor on the main campus will answer and then you can either have the student speak to the counselor via phone or the counselor can come to the student’s location. If it is after 5 p.m., or on the weekend, the counselor line will connect you with LLCC Police.

We offer short-term, solution-focused, confidential counseling services to currently enrolled students, free of charge. If you have concerns about a student, but they are not in immediate crisis, you may call 217-786-2224 and ask to speak to one of the counselors. We can then explain how we can reach out to the student of concern. Please note this line is for immediate crisis only and not for issues related to classroom management or behavior; if that is the concern, please contact Leslie Johnson, assistant vice president, student success.

Thank you for all that you do for LLCC students!
