Calling all artists! “On My Own Time” slated for September

On My Own Time. Art: 1.a. The activity of creating beautiful things. b. Works, such as paintings or drawings, resulting from such activity. This fall, LLCC will once again be participating in the Springfield Area Arts Council’s On My Own Time (OMOT) program. This unique program provides LLCC faculty and staff an opportunity to display original art they have created outside the office, truly, on your own time. There will be an in-house exhibit at LLCC followed by a city-wide exhibit at the Springfield Art Association showcasing first place award-winning artwork from all participating businesses, agencies and institutions.

LLCC’s in-house exhibit will be featured on the LLCC-Springfield campus September-November.

Faculty and staff may enter up to three artworks each, created since 2016, for a fee of $5 per entry. The fee assists SAAC with costs of the OMOT program. Details and deadlines will be announced at the beginning of fall semester.

So spend time this summer using your imagination and skills to create new artwork! A detailed list of the categories, as well as the rules are attached.

Please contact me with any questions.

Thank you from Joe Hoff

I wanted to thank everyone for their thoughtful cards and very kind words. I was very moved by the donations made in my mom’s name by LLCC and my ARHM colleagues to the Alzheimer’s Foundation and the Belleville Humane Society. And I know my mom would have been very moved as well. So, a heartfelt thank you.

Joe Hoff, Ph.D., Professor of Spanish

Health insurance presentation slides available; open-house session May 15

On May 7, a presentation was given on changes to health insurance plans effective July 1, 2019.  The slides from the presentation have been uploaded to the HR Portal site.  You also have an opportunity on Wednesday, May 15 to speak with a representative from our third-party administrator who can answer questions about our health insurance plans, specific claims, flexible spending accounts and health savings accounts. She will be available, open house-style, from 10-11:30 a.m. and 1-3 p.m. in the HR Conference Room.

Note about the online enrollment checklist

On May 6, a system email from Lincoln Land Community College was sent to all benefit-eligible employees, prompting you to login and complete the FY20 Open Enrollment Checklist. This checklist contains a series of online forms to be completed for open enrollment by June 6, 2019. One required form is for health savings account contributions. This is a required form, even if you are not on the high deductible plan and do not have a health savings account. If the form does not apply to you, simply fill in the required fields and indicate $0.00 for contributions. We must have this form available for everyone in the event that an Open Access Plan participant wishes to change to the High Deductible Plan.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact the HR office for assistance.

Transition to electronic time sheets

Exciting payroll changes are coming to LLCC! Effective May 16, 2019, we will transition from paper time sheets to electronic time sheets using Etrieve.

To incorporate the end of the Spring semester, student workers and Federal Work Study students can fill out paper time sheets to include dates worked through Friday, May 17. The last day paper time sheets will be accepted is Friday, May 17. All future dates worked should be submitted by the student using the Etrieve electronic time sheet.

All other individuals who submit time sheets will begin using the new Etrieve forms on May 16.

The Etrieve software can be accessed from the My LLCC webpage (select “Etrieve for Employees” link under the Faculty/Staff Resources menu) or by using the desktop shortcut. More information, including instructional videos and written directions, can be found on the Payroll Department’s SharePoint page.

Flooring and construction work begins May 20

Starting on Monday, May 20 contractors will be working in Menard Hall, Sangamon Hall and Cass Gym. Flooring in the lower level of Menard Hall, including the student union and the hallways around Student Life, Quiznos, bookstore and IT areas, will be affected by this work. Access to Quiznos, bookstore and Student Life will be maintained at all times. Be aware that using an alternate stairway or door to access these areas might be necessary throughout construction. In Sangamon Hall, minor flooring work will be occurring in the northeast corner of the second floor near the study lounge. In Cass Gym, the entry lobby, classroom and all three stairways will be affected by construction and will be unavailable at various times during the construction. We anticipate that this work will continue through early August. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Tim Ervin at 786-9605 or at tim.ervin@llcc.edu.
