Spring 2021 choir concert video premieres May 12

Spring 2021 Choir Concert Rising Together. LLCC.The LLCC Choir will premiere its spring 2021 concert video, “Rising Together,” on LLCC Music’s Facebook page and YouTube channel on Wednesday, May 12, at noon. The choir, under the direction of Laurie Lewis-Fritz, instructor of music, will present songs about togetherness and emerging from crises with strength and community.

The video will be available for six months following the premiere.

Radiography students win state awards

Three of the LLCC Associate Degree Radiography students received awards at the 86th Annual Illinois State Society of Radiologic Technology Conference that was held in April this year. First year radiography student Megan Jamison of Taylorville received a $500 scholarship. Second year radiography student Emily Schmidt of Carrolton received a first place award along with a $60 check for her electronic poster on Infantile Cortical Hyperostosis. Second year radiography student Whitley Barto of Litchfield received a second place award along with a $45 check for her electronic poster on Craniosynostosis. Congratulations to these outstanding students!

Jamil Steele, director, LLCC Adult Education and Literacy, was interviewed by the Jacksonville Journal Courier May 5 regarding LLCC Adult Education offering classes to downtown Beardstown.

In the community

Dr. Chris McDonald, professor of political science, provided four remote presentations today on World War I to classes at Williamsville High School on Tuesday. The presentations, held via Google Meetings, were held for a mixture of remote students and those in-person at the high school.

Tours scheduled for Kreher Agriculture Center May 6

Faculty and staff are invited to tour the Kreher Agriculture Center tomorrow afternoon, May 6, beginning at 2:30 p.m. Ag faculty, staff and students, along with members of the LLCC advancement office, will be on hand to point out the many features of the state-of-the-art facility.

A ribbon cutting for the center is set for 10:30 tomorrow, followed by tours for invited guests. Due to COVID-19 safety protocols, a limited number of invitations have been sent for the ribbon cutting ceremony.

2020-21 LLCC Catalog available

LLCC’s new 2021-2022 Catalog is available online. The link to the catalog can also be found on the LLCC homepage by hovering over the “Academics” tab at the top and clicking “Catalog” in the drop down menu.

Employee Recognition Week

It is Employee Recognition Week, and over the course of the week the college is celebrating employees who achieved milestone anniversaries during fiscal year 2021, as well as those who have or will be retiring this fiscal year. Employee Recognition Week will wrap up with a live Zoom presentation of the Distinguished Service Awards on Friday, May 7, at 11 a.m. Check LincIn for a Zoom link to this event.
